Can the Governing Body be called a "KILLER CULT?

  In 1993 David Koresh led more than eighty Branch Davidians to their deaths in Waco Texas.

  In 1978 some nine hundred followers perished in a mass suicide in Jonestown,Guyana,under the command of their cult leader,Jim Jones.

  These events sparked great media attention because of their sensational nature,and because so many deaths occurred at once.

  But another cult has,over the years,sacrificed untold thousands of lives.These deaths occurring quietly and one at a time,has so far escaped large - scale scrutiny.

  More children are dying right now,in obedience to the Governing Body's ban on Blood Transfusion,than perished in the fire at Waco.This enforcement on blood transfusions reaches into clinics and hospitals.

  The Governing Body instructs JW'S. who are employees in ciinics and hospitals to turn over information from confidential patient records to them.

  They also conduct bedside trials of members who accept forbidden medical treatments.They even instruct parents to kidnap their children from hospital beds,and children themselves to resist doctors violently and to give false testimony in court.

  How can a major religion headed by a Governing Body quietly lead victims to early and needless deaths without a public outcry?

  Would you say that the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses can be called,or are, a "KILLER CULT".

  Would you say that the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses can be called,or are, a "KILLER CULT".

  ABSOLUTELY

  For the longest time I thought the the "dirty dozen" (give or take a few) were just old deceived men who really meant no harm.

  In recent years I have learned that these men are evil and they very well know what they are doing.

  The murders of Waco and the murders of Guyana are nothing in comparison with the murders the governing body has and is continuing to commit with the printed kool-aid.

  i would say so, yes. not only because given the right circumstances they will let themselves die because of their 'belief' but also because they will let their children die because of the same 'belief'.

  i do think that anyone who's got enough faith to die for their belief deserves an amount of respect, even if they are just plain ignorrant, at least they had the integrity to stand their ground, but a person who lets their child die, as jw's do, that's another story and those are actions that i would associate with a killer cult.

  I don't think they could be called that. I think it would be more like "Killer High-Control Theocratic Extremist Religion".

  The faraway reality of jw's,children included,dying for lack of blood,does not intrude on the average jw.This is an ongoing tradegy.

  You cannot change the world. You have to let go and let them believe as they wish, even if innocent victims must parish. It's a part of life on this board.

  Look at what they have done to our dear friends here! They have done things that are unimaginable, but sometimes you need to let nature take it's course.

  It's funny how dubs say that "Gog of Magog" will destroy they're religion; that being the government. Well, when you are that extreme and stupid it's no wonder that the government will infact outlaw you when things get out of hand.

  Take a real comparison of how witnesses preach today and how they did in 33 c.e. Who would be the scribes and who would be Jesus apostles? Compare they're rules.

  When I made my post on the Personal Experiences & Reunions board titled "What is the appeal of Watchtower Farm and Patterson?" I expressed how I came away with the feeling that there was a cult atmosphere. I left one of my thoughts out of that post because I didn't want to come across as being too extreme. When I saw the title of this post "Killer Cult", that thought came back to me and I thought I'd share it here.

  When I had lunch with the "family", everyone was served grape juice made from grapes grown on the Watchtower Farm. I hate to admit this, but the thought of the purple koolaid that was served at Jonestown came to mind. Having learned that all of the JW facilities ate at the exact same minute, if a JW's-town koolaid incident was ever considered, this would be the opportune time.

  My knowledge of JW activities and beliefs was quite limited at the time of that visit, so I didn't know what was possible. Thanks to this board I am learning quite a bit. I now realize that not answering my door when the Witnesses came knocking over the years was the right thing to do.

  yeah, that is definitely a more accurate description!

  Well, they're a "doomsday cult" - and in such circumstances people are committedly arrogant enough to kill - and become so dangerously deluded as to consider themselves to be "God manifest", and with that comes their mission of saying to others what is 'good' and what is 'bad' ( shouldn't be eating that fruit ) - who is appropriate to live, and who is not.

  For many, if they revealed their inner thoughts, they'd probably be locked away, but they don't - how could they - and so, the ol' "they're not actually lying routine".

  Yes, I consider them a killer cult. Good points, all! I really appreciate your insights. Do you know, that during the 32 years I spent duped by them, I actually believed that almost no one ever died from refusing a blood transfusion? And that's what I smilingly told people whenever they asked me about people dying from this issue. Unfortunately, no one ever challenged me, so I continued believing that hardly anyone ever died, and certainly no children died.

  I actually believed that!! Talk about head in the sand.
