    Amazing started a series on Taking Back your Life and it reminded me of this poem.

    AFTER A WHILE.....

    ....you learn the subtle difference
    between holding a hand
    and chaining a soul

    And you learn that love doesn't mean leaving
    that company doesn't mean security.

    And you begin to learn
    that kisses aren't contracts
    and presents aren't promises;

    And you begin to accept your defeats
    with your head held up and you eyes opened.
    with the grace of an adult,
    not the grief of a child

    And you learn to build your roads on today
    because tomorrows ground is too uncertain
    for plans

    After awhile, you learn that even sunshine
    burns if you get too much;

    So you plant your own garden
    and decorate your own soul
    instead of waiting for someone
    to bring you flowers;

    And you learn that you really can endure...
    that you really are strong
    and you have worth.

    Well I for one am not a poetry person.

    But on the odd occasion there's one that seems to hit the nail on the head so to speak. So heres one I found on a JW's site:

    **Encouraging Poem**

    When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
    When the road you're trudging seems uphill,
    When the funds are low and debts are high,
    And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
    When your cares are pressing you down a bit...
    Rest if you must, but don't you quit,
    Life is strange with its twists and turns,
    As everyone of us sometimes learns,
    And many a fellow turns about,
    When he might have won had he stuck it out.
    Don't give up though the pace seems slow...
    You may succeed with another blow.

    Often the goal is nearer than,
    It seems to a faint and faltering man;
    Often the struggler has given up,
    when he might have captured the victor's cup;
    And he learned to late when the night came down,
    How close he was to the golden crown.
    Success is failure turned inside out...
    The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
    And you never can tell how close you are,
    It may be near when it seems afar;
    So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit...
    It's when things seem the worst that you must not quit.

    Jang,

    For years I carried a copy of the above in my wallet. Read it often. Eventually it fell apart, so it was a nice memory to read it once again, thanks.

    BugEyesWife, thank you also for sharing your special poem; I enjoyed it :)
