A sad article... a 17-year-old Witness died while playing basketball, due to a congenital heart defect: http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/news/local/6734258.htm

What I found interesting about the article was this:

It was Lee Cannon's daily after-school routine: study hall, weight lifting and then a few games of pickup basketball at Trenholm Park before dinner.

But that routine went horribly awry Monday night, when the 17-year-old co-captain of A.C. Flora High's basketball team collapsed on the court and died in his friends' arms.

    ...

Cannon was raised a Jehovah's Witness, and his faith was important to him, his mother said. He also volunteered in the summer with Habitat for Humanity.
A JW kid who was also on the school team (co-captain no less), played basketball with worldly kids, and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity? Maybe the dubs are liberalizing, after all.

The key might be the phrase "raised as a Jehovah's Witness". His family may have been inactive - maybe still holding the beliefs, but not practicing.

Either way, a tragic story. Is it my imagination, or am I hearing more of these lately (kids who die suddenly while exersizing)?

That is a tragedy. Very sad.

Obviously his parent(s) were a lot more balanced than most dubs.

I don't understand how dr's could miss an artery going around the heart rather than into it?
