The Myth of Progressive Revelation.

The idea of progressive revelation is no excuse for "ERROR".What Witnesses never face is the enormous corpus of material from Russell and Rutherford that has never been even close to the truth.

Too,these leaders and their current successors advance their teachings in the most dogmatic manner, ready to exercise discipline on those who disagree, and unwilling to recognize that their "truth"might be overturned.

The idea of progressive revelation is no excuse for "EXTREME DOCTRINAL AMBIVALENCE."The extent to which the 'faithful and discreet slave',the Governing Body, has changed positions on what is really true and beneficial is simply astonishing. The list of doctrinal changes and doctrines no longer taught or believed by the 'slave'would fill volumes.

YOU,could no doubt list a number of the teachings and doctrines that are no longer taught or believed since you first became one of jw's.

From James Beverly's Crises of Allegiance.

Blueblades; nice post. Surprised it hasnt thus far attracted much response. It's interesting to ponder the very short ``shelf life" of the average JW bound book, in contrast to the enduring value of the many excellent Bible commentaries written in the 19th century, not to mention the Bible itself.

I find it so ironic that when Fred Franz was President of the society most (if not all) of the books he wrote and Biblical interpretations/prophecies he formulated, would be considered false teachings and grounds for disfellowshipping. He wrote scores of books, and most of them were obsolete before he even became President.

Talk about a short shelf life...

    Hmmm
