    G'day all,

The recommendation for this month's wine really comes from Mrs Ozzie. Ya see, she's lying mellow in her room in this post Stalin gulag because of enjoying the lovely red drops of a merlot all the way from South America.

It was a very tasty drop, I can tell you.

    Her's the details...

Campero Merlot Central Valley 2001 (Chile)

    The label says this:

A vibrant ruby red merlot, soft yet full bodied, with plenty of plummy fruit, and wild cherries, complexed with hints of heather, spicy, full flavoured. Drink now.

    What can I say.... I agree...drink now....

If you see it it in your local liquor outlet, buy some. It's costing about 8 euros in the old soviet bloc, so I guess the same throughout Europe.

    Cheers, Ozzie

Ozzie, good news in the paper today for Australian winegrowers. People from the US are buying Australian wines instead of French. They are discovering the wonderful joy of sipping a nice merlot from Australia.

    G'day Blondie,

I'm glad you raised that...y'see I just can't understand why the folk in the northern hemisphere have a thing about French wines. If you go to Japan, they think it's 'de riguer' to offer a Bordeaux. The same goes throughout Europe. Why....... I don't get it.

Take a good shiraz or a merlot any day. At least it has taste. And after all, isn't that what a wine is for...

    Cheers, Ozzie

Have to say, both Chile and Australia are producing some nice reds. I never did drink French wine, its overrated and expensive.

Ozzie, glad to see you're still a lush.

Favorite Aussie wine is Rosemount Cabernet Shiraz. 13%, woohoo! And they sell it here in the 1.5 litre bottles for under $10 U.S. (when on sale).

Too bad I can't have any, as I'm up the duff for another 7 mos.

I'm learning some good wines. Rosemount is a nice shiraz, definitely.

I'm finding that I'm enjoying the white wines from the Languedoc region of France. Mm, mm... and I'm pro-american, but those frogs sure know how to squish a grape... now if only they'd pick somebody other than woody allen to market their country over here.

    G'day Reagan,

Rosemeount is a favoured drop of a few on this db and has been discussed in the past, but what's this about 1½ lites????? Strewth!!!! Most we can get is a 750mL bottle.

Still, I think I'd rather have Mr Bliss's drop..........it comes in bulk!!

Glad you guys and gals have grown to appreciate wine from downunder.

    Cheers again, Ozzie
