Quick Builds

Has any body any idea how good the workmanship is on quickbuilds? Normally if you get a group of people who don't know about building you get chaos. I know a few years ago they were changed from 48hrs to 2weekend, something to do with not being able to lay the bricks fast enough, new legislation limiting how many courses could be done in a day. Does this mean the brickwork might not be right on early quickbuilds, and that they might be dangerous? And how many accidents are there on quickbuilds?

The quality is quite good, mainly because you have the regional building team (mugs) that go to all the builds and do all the work while the local brother swan around in their new tool belts and flirt with the sisters making the tea, while the mugs do all the work.

I know, I was a mug for 3 years, every other weekend during the summer months, and never once got invited to a hall dedication.

My father is involved in those quick builds, or "one day blunders" as we ex Jw's call them. I know the cities and towns were very strict on the building quality of the structure. I think since so many JW's do that kind of work in their regular jobs, I would think the quality was top notch.

Our family of four have been on 5 quickbuilds. They all turned out to code after some adjustments had been made. The worst one was Ft. Myers in the hot summer. Direction would be given and after half an hour ones would disappear and sleep in their car with the air on a block away and some right there at the sight. One hot grueling job in the hope for a blessing from Ja... as if we had to work our way to salvation! Quickbuilds were not fun. Picking fruit for the society on their free labor line wasn't fun either. We are glad not to be working our way to salvation and just be the good people we are.

Instead of keeping our eyes tunneled on the prize...lets look up and out and live the prize of life we now freely have in our grasp today!

My single quickbuild experience would bear out the comments of searchforthetruth. The regular teams from the R B C did all the work, and we sort of got in the way.

My role was as the "Accommodations Overseer" . A thankless job if ever there was one'

During the build we had a host of minor accidents, but none serious thankfully. That was remarkable when you saw the multitide of workers in a confined space all wielding saws. hammers etc.

Still, the food was good and everyone seemed to enjoy it...
