Laws to Protect the Stupid People

  Have you ever noticed how many laws there are to protect the stupid people? Take the seat belt law for instance, smart people know to buckle themselves in. We are now interfering with evolution by protecting stupid people from themselves. What have we done???????????

  What other laws are out there that don't protect society, just there to protect the stupid people from themselves?

  Here in Austin there is a bridge that is over 150 feet above the water and there is a sign saying that it's unlawful to dive from the bridge. DUUUUUH? Do we really need to make that against the law? We should be letting nature take it's course.

  There's the one that requires a warning on cigarette packages.

  McDonald’s coffee cups they tell us that the contents might be hot. Cost them 3 mil before they learned to pass that bit of knowledge on to the buying public.

  This isn't a law but there are signs in men's rooms and I'm sure ladies rooms, too, that says," Employees Must Wash Hands" after using the bathroom.....It makes me happy that I'm not an employee.....

  minimus, that one is to protect the rest of us from the stupid people.

  There are men who work where I do, in the IT department of a huge health care organization, who do not know to raise the seat before they urinate. I guess at home they must just sit in their own pee when it's dump time.

  Ladder manufacturers paste a warning on the sides of their product that standing on the top step just might be hazardous.

  How about stupid members of the Legislature? There was a Private Member's Bill to post traffic signs on all our navigable bodies of water. You know, speed limits, rapids ahead, etc. etc.

  How about the sign telling you not to put your hand under the lawn mower when it's running. Sometimes there's even a drawing of some fingers being severed. LOL

  How about warnings on tampon boxes stating to use only as directed? My God, I don't even want to think about that one.

  This post is funny. I've thought the same thing many times, TimB. As a matter of fact......I gave it so much thought one day that it started to make sense! There are some states that still don't require a motorcyclist to wear a helmet while flying down the interstate doing 70mph with 18 wheelers next to them. The scariest part is that there ARE stupid people who NEED a law......lol. On second thought, maybe we should just let the breed kill itself off/////like you said....My favorite part is when the rider actually convinces another stupid person to get on the back w/o any head gear. HELLO..........please, bikers don't flame me here.....my hubby works for Harley-Davidson and I've seen it happen all too often.......then we go to the funerals......Generally the bikers who don't want to wear helmets whine about their "right" to choose. Duh....good one. Yup, stupido! What they fail to remember is that when they die or are severley injured, their family pays the price.
