The society has always argued that the trouble the world is in, is because it is ruled by Satan. Then the other day I was reading something odd in the Finished Mystery:

*** The Finished Mystery 304 (not yet on CD-ROM) ***

The gospel of Satan is not a system of revolutionary principles, nor yet a program of anarchy. It does not inspire wars and strife, but peace and security. It does not set the mother against her daughter and the father against his son, but promotes the fraternal spirit whereby the race is regarded as one great Brotherhood. It does not seek to drag down and degrade the natural man, but to improve and uplift him. To use a popular phrase, it appeals to the best, all that is good within us.' It aims to make this world such a comfortable and congenial habitat that the absence of Christ will not be felt and God will not be needed. It endeavors to make men so satisfied with this life that they shall be totally indifferent to the life hereafter. It propagates the principles of self-sacrifice, mercy, charity and benevolence, teaching men to live for the good of others and to be kind to all. For those who observe its condit ions and obey it s commands, it promises the development of certain inherent occult powers, the solution of the more recondite problems of man's constitution and the accumulation of esoteric knowledge which is withheld from the multitude. In short, it declares that all who will eat of the forbidden fruit shall be as gods.' The gospel of Satan is one of works. The Devil's Delusion is that we can be saved by our own works, and justified by our own deeds.

"It does not set the mother against her daughter and the father against his son", "one great Brotherhood", "it appeals to the best, all that is good within us", "It propagates the principles of self-sacrifice, mercy, charity and benevolence, teaching men to live for the good of others and to be kind to all", "justified by our own deeds".

Satan's gospel indeed is quite unlike that of the society!

Wow , I need to get a copy of that . That is something I've never seen before. True the bible refers to satan transforming into an angel of light but this part here I think goes a little too far-( It propagates the principles of self-sacrifice, mercy, charity and benevolence, teaching men to live for the good of others and to be kind to all.) I think the beast of revelation shows quite a contrasting picture to this .

Maybe rutherford made a typo. Or maybe jfr was calling good things bad. What a wacko.

And what is SO wrong with the above traits? Are they not things that JW's, as self professed teachers of the truth should be doing themselves instead of condemning them?

Did not Christ teach we are all brothers? Did not Christ teach us to love one another? Did not Christ teach us to excercise sacrifice, mercy, charity, to love all, regardless?

With a few quite obvious exceptions, it seems that Satan's system as described above does far more for the advancement of the human race than religion can ever hope of doing.

This is the ultimate in twisting things round to excuse their evil deeds. Calling what is good evil so they can righteously carry on their evil. May God have mercy on them.

Very interesting quote you found there, Greven!

On the one hand, the WT Society condemns "Social Darwinism" and "survival of the fittest" as cruel and unchristian.

Then they condemn humanitarianism. It seems that whenever humans give each other a helping hand, the WT Society wants to preach that it really "doesn't count". After all , the "real solution" to ANY problem is "the Kingdom [tm]."

There is no pleasing them outside of joining them in their narrow, prejudiced world view.

Gopher - You have a point there they do demonize people that do things that aren't attributed to God and accuse them of merely blowing their own horn before men but even the apostles were known to do this . The way I see it people usually have a selfish reason for being charitable anyway .
