I understand that between 1970 and 1995, one-third of the Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide left the organization. The figure is 55% for those in the U.S.A.These figures would seem to mean that there are a lot of dissatisfied JW'S! If you were to ask a JW'S,why so many would want to leave if there is such a wonderful atmosphere of love among the Witnesses, could they give you a good reason? Blueblades.

They justify the ones leaving as those with a bad heart, who just want to their own thing.

    NO.

They'll blame it on that persons heart condition and rationalize that those who left were just seduced by the immoral lifestyle and chose to abandon Jehoober.

Go Figure!! I would think that those statistics are difficult to determine. I would think that there are more JWs leaving the org. now than ever before. I do however recall at assemblies the bro. saying that 40,000 a yr were disfellowshipped . mostly for immorality. so if the numerbers were increasing over the yrs. as they said, a tremendous amount were coming in to compensate for the 40,000 who were going out. Does this make any sense?? Or have I flipped?

Perhaps they will try to use the scriptures in matthew 24: 10 -12

10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, (taken from NIV)

I have been told the scripture "..love of greater number will cool off.." applies to jw-not world. also, tehy quote that scripture that says "they were not of our sort..". Also, they say jehovah is doing a sifitng work. We are bing tested. etc on and on.

HI! ORANGEFATCAT. Actually those figures can easily be arrived at.Each year in the January 1st Watchtower magazine the society gives the number of active Witnesses for the previous year, the number baptized during the year, and the new present number of active Witnesses-----with the percentage of increase or decrease. When you add the number baptized to the previous year's total and then subtract the new total of active Witnesses from this, you can easily figure out how many left.Hope this helps how the numbers game is played by the society. Blueblades, I keep a spreadsheet that goes back a few years where I post the numbers in the YB. I have a column where I make that very calculation and I call it MIA. In recent years it has hovered around 150,000.

BTW, I assume this time span ends at the discretion of the poster not necessarily at the discretion of the WTS (DF and DA). The WTS considers fade-aways or inactive as members until THEY decide you are toast.

Those that are MIA are not counting people that are there but are not.
