Donations vs. Administrative+Distribution Costs

Watchtower Magazine of October 1st, 1986 criticized that many organizations have high administrative and distribution costs so that only a fragment of the donations serves their goal:

    What Does Your Money Accomplish?

Prospective donors to worthy causes have reason to ask: 'Just how much of my contribution will directly benefit the people it is designed to help?' A 1978 investigation of 15 leading charitable organizations in the Federal Republic of Germany, for example, revealed that at that time administrative and distribution costs ate up some 42 percent of the organizations' total income.

When television officials checked the savings accounts of six "adopted children" in Bolivia, they discovered that only 6 to 15 percent of the total amount of contributions made by their "adoptive parents" in the Federal Republic of Germany had been credited to the children's bank accounts. A spokeswoman for the organization denied charges of fraud, however, explaining that prospective donors are clearly told that the children will get only about one third of their "parent's" contributions. The rest, after caring for administrative costs, reportedly would be used for educational and medical purposes.

Well, the headline of the article was ""Love Your Neighbor"-What Is the Most Practical Way?". So what's the anwer?

So teaching people to exercise faith in Jesus' ransom sacrifice and its provisions will accomplish the most good in the long run.

And just my comment: since administration and distribution are part of "teaching people to exercise faith in Jesus' ransom sacrifice and its provisions", the WTS is the only organization where donations are used 100% according to their purpose.

    ;-)

If this is so, why is the Watchtower hesitant about public disclosure of their funds?

WTS would be glad to disclose their financial statements, but, dang it all, those records are kept in the same file drawer as the pedophile list, which they just can't seem to find. LOL

Uhm, right Why, as a witness, would you want to know what other organisations do with their donations? It would seem more logical for the WT organisation to publish something like this

    What Does Your Money Accomplish?

    Donations: xxx Billion

    Expenses to etc

Oh No Wait!! That would not be logical at all! Heavens forbid any rank and file member knowing where his donations were going.

My comment was not serious. :-)

I just wanted to show how the WTS points their finger to other organizations while they too have those costs but just make these costs the goal of the donations.

When the WTS points the finger, it fails to see there are three pointing back at it!
