America's World Role/Babylon the Great

  If you want an objective view of America and its place in the world
  you've got to read the latest Economist article.

  As you read that article please keep in mind Babylon the Great as
  it is described in Revelation 17 & 18.

  Some may debate whether there is any connection between Babylon the
  Great and some modern entity but it quite clear that if there is
  any fulfillment at this point in history you would have to
  conclude that Babylon the Great is the USA. It certainly can not
  be the imaginary construct that the Watchtower calls the World
  Empire of False Religion.

  Read the Economist Article. Decide for yourself what is the "great
  city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth". Rev. 17:18

  Babylon the Hegemon is described as the great "consumer" of
  luxurious goods. In fact the USA is the dumping ground of the
  "full stock" of precious goods. The USA appetite is what swells
  the income of global merchants. That is why when the USA is
  suddenly destroyed that the "traveling merchants of the earth are
  weeping and mourning over her, because there is no one to buy their
  full stock anymore." Rev 18:11

  The prostitution of the Great Harlot is the same as Tyre. It is an
  ugly economic alliance that benefits the Whore but gives only
  temporary pleasure to those ruling elites who sleep with her. The
  United States cares little about how the subjects of her trading
  partners fare. The US is quite willing to buy oil from
  illegitimate governments like Saudi Arabia where there is no
  freedom of religion. The US give most favored trading status to
  repressive regimes such as China.

  Eventually, the wild beast that appeared to have died will turn on
  the US and burn her up. Is it just a coincidence that the USSR
  died but out of its ashes appears Russia allowing the USA to ride
  on its back? Russia has probably already secretly sold a few bombs
  to the terrorists who want to bring the USA down.

  The Bomb/s that will soon go off will be blamed on terrorists who
  will have allegedly bought them from Russian Mafia. Putin will
  hold Bush's hand in the aftermath of the explosions. Eventually,
  the word will leak out who the real perpetrators are.

  Even a year ago this would have read like a fantasy or at best a
  Tom Clancy novel. How many times do you have to hear the words
  "not IF but WHEN" and "probably SOONER rather than LATER".

  What a bunch of garbage. Being the worlds economic leader in no way makes us the biblical Babylon. We have not been this powerfull for very long if you realise that Spain, England, and France dominated the world for centuries at a time. Lets not forget the Romans or Egypt! All have been dominant world powers. However, the US global domination pales in comparison to Great Britain of old. The Watch Tower is wrong, just as it has been before, and it will be again. As far as the US being an "Empire of False Religion" I guess that is partially true as the JWs spread their lies here continually.

  OH, man, you have some courage, what shall now all this peopel on this side say, who put upp the US flagg and say, god bless america, and think US is the nation from the Lord, like new born Christians.

  I dont think i belive inn you teori , but it was very exiting thought.

  The Economic Power listed only goes back to 1870! So we have been a dominant economic force for 132 years whoopie!! The Romans were dominant for how long?? England, France, and Spain were all dominant for a longer period of time. Plus, those facts dont take into effect the fact the the US has benifited from land that has been unspoiled. We have enourmous natural resources and FREEDOMS that allow us to be economically competitive. When you have no resources or Freedoms (ie USSR) your economic out is severly diminished. If you want to talk about total value of world POWER, the USSR throughout the cold war had more NUKES and a larger MILITARY. We beat them in $$$$ but thats it.

  You obviously have an aversion to doing your research. Go back to your Encarta and modify your knowledge of the resources of the USSR/Russia.

  Hi Proplog2: Interesting post. I know of some who have interpreted World Commerce, Big Business (not just the USA) as Babylon the Great. I simply have no confidence in such interpretations. I do still find them fascinating.

  The USA has some real challenges, as the article you cited pointed out. The USA is working with the rest of the world's leaders, for example, the Big 8 with Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and now Russia. I suppose China and India will have to be admitted before long because their economies are heating up. I believe that all these nations collectively will need to seriously act in the interest of the rest of the world; and not just be the responsibility of the USA.

  Hope you are taking good care of yourself and feeling better.

  I also have little confidence in Bible Prophecy but "find it intriguing". I certainly find no coherence in the conventional JW explanation. There does seem to be an interesting convergence of world events and Biblical themes.

  If mankind is going to be saved from their "intrinsic" greed/sin it's going to have to be extraterrestial/extradimmensional of some sort. Otherwise humans are pretty much doomed even before the Sun dies.

  It just goes to show what can result if we follow the Watchtower lead and try to fit the prophecies and visions of the Bible to real life organisations today. The imagination runs wild and one's own opinions and prejudice come to the fore.
