A few post over the question was posted about what was the finally straw for you leaving wt and Farkel highlighted all the crazy dogmas of wt and tongue and cheeked commented that he could deal with all those things except the ban on BJ.
so some of the guys here at work asked me to explain it to them what BAN ON BJ-
as i was explaining it the issue of remarriaged came up and i found it most interesting how once again wt makes up it's own rules for folks lives.
Consider this - in Africa- a man can take on multiple wives in many countries since his religion allows him to do so and still have gods approval.
so when he starts to study the bible with jw he is told that since he has been taught something that is not supported by the bible the taking of multiple wives for christians ( OK Solomon was the first PLAYA on record)
he must get rid of all his wives and only keep the FIRST one
since that is the first one that he married and since he married THE other wives on unscriptual basis then he was never really married to them.
the question /issue that i brought up to show just how WACKY wt is
you may recall that at one time a sister or bro could divorce and remarry on the grounds of BJ's
and then the wt came out and i recall this so well
in the nov 15-88 wt they had the change printed on getting a divorce on the grounds of BJ"s and if anyone has that article
you may recall that the wt made a MAJOR SHIFT IN DOGMA AND THEY DID IT IN THE FORM OF A FOOTNOTE
it stated in part-- if anyone got a divorce and remarried under the old BJ rules don't worry about it you are still cool with your new wife or hubby
now why doesn't wt make jw who got a divorce under the old rules go back to thier first mate
since according to thier own dogma the divorce on the grounds of BJ was unscriptual to start with
which means according to wt own dogma anyone who got a divorce on those grounds got a divorce on basically unscriptual grounds
(yep it was wrong the day it rolled off the press at Walkill)
according to wt in africa the only real scriptual marriage is the one to the first wife and in fact before a man can get baptized he must go back to the orginal marriage
it is this type of playing with folks lives that is so sad
imagine a 2 sisters getting a divorce
the one sister got her paper work back for her divorce on the grounds of her husband wanting a BJ 2 days before the article arrived in the mail,
she now free to remarry
while another sister didnt' get her divorce papers till 2 days after the nov 15,88 came in the mail,
she is now NO LONGER ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH HER DIVORCE AND REMARRY she now must stay with her husband and if she tries to continue on with the divorce and remarry she will be DFed for Adultry
the only difference between what both sisters did is 5 days
once again i explained to my nonjw friends that jw are constantly faced with dogmas that change while folks lives on the line
think about the bro who got 15yrs in prison for not taking the alternative service job and
then the next week a bro from the same hall gets to work at the hospital and see his wife and kids every night while the other bro is being shipped to the other side of the country and his family can't afford to go and see him
all because the wt decided to change the rules in the midddle of the game
and there are so many other dogmas/rules/policies and etc that could get one DFed and barred from everlasting life that change more often than most men change their "Drawers"
