Does the light of truth really get brighter?

Heres a way that I think shows that the witness idea that the "light is getter brighter " is flawed.
The reason often given for it being the case that Jehovahs only reveals things graduly is that if he revealed things all at once it would be too much for a person to take. They would be "blinded" by the Knowledge.
So on this reasoning then we must concluded that before 1995 people were not able to cope with the idea that "this generation" was not talking about poeple born in 1914, the light would have blinded them.
In that case why does this new light not blind people who come into the religon today?
They have gone straight from the "Darkness" into the most resently revealed light surely they must be blinded and would need first to learn all the past Knowledge that is now considered wrong before they could cope with this new light.

    This idea is so stupid.
Children who are born today will learn straight away about the way the world works they will learn of gravity , spelling and maths in school.Things that people living hundreds or thousands of years ago did not know. Since when has accurate knowledge "blinded" someone?
Where is the evidence that humans nead to go through a process of learning wrong things in order to eventualy be able to cope with the truth?
If the society is right I suggest that before we teach children about the world we live in we first teach that the world is flat , and that
the moon is made of cheese only then will they be able to cope with the new light of scientific truth today.

You are absolutely right, but it gets worse...

some light (and others can probably quote more examples) such as in the case of blood policy, the new light has changed one way and then back again.

This means either God keeps changing his mind, or the light is getting brighter, then darker... then brighter again, or truth changes over time (shall we call this The Dub Theory Of Relativity) OR...

that the rules and interpretations are made up by mere humans as they see fit.

It's time for them to come clean before I go ballistic!!!!!

I've given a lot of thought to that theory as well and I must agree with you that it does'nt make sense. Another flaw to that reasoning is that even if Jehovah is truly revealing the light a little at a time he would'nt dispense incorrect information. And as well all know over the years the WTS has had numerous incorrect predictions and teachings.

I had a long conversation with my sister-in-law about this a couple months of ago. She felt that the WTS was still used by God despite their mistakes because they ADMITTED that they were wrong on certain points. Her entire argumentation was based on the fact that they were forthright about their mistakes. But my reasoning is that they had no choice but to admit they were wrong. If I told someone the world was ending on Nov 23rd, 2001 and that date came and went I'd have no other option than to admit that I was wrong.

I think that schools should also use this gradual method of revealing the truth.

In Grade one, children should be taught that the earth is flat. Then, over the
years, we could reveal to them that it is held on the back of a giant tortoise.
Eventually, they would learn that it is actually pizza shaped, then spherical
with the stars and planets orbiting around them. By the time they graduate,
they would have worked up to the current model.

I think that our education system has a lot to learn from the JW's.

the WTS ... told someone the world was ending on Nov 23rd, 2001 and that date came and went* (italics ours)

It came. It went. Another failed prophecy. Oh the humanity.

I totally agree with what you are saying about the light getting brighter and brighter. I have posted my thoughts on this on a number of occasions............for me, for the light to get "brighter" (to me) can only mean that what you see is "clarified". I deal with graphics all the time. When I see a pic with, let's say,.....a brown "outline"...........with a red "blob" on top of it. As I take it into a program to make it "clearer" to me..........I eventually might see a picnic table (the brown outline) and as it gets clearer (a basket with red apples) I cannot see a basket with a grouping of "yellow banana's" in the place of the "red". I cannot accept going yellow when in the first pic I see red. You cannot make things clearer by changing the whole thing totally. That is a 180 degree turn. Things only get clearer from what has been shown........................THEY DO NOT CHANGE!!!!

If Jehovah only reveals truth (new light)through the Faithful and Discrete slave then how come other people have often though of the idea before them?
For instance if they only new in 1995 that they had "this generation" wrong how come people knew this before the "faithful slave".
Is this not evidence that Jehovah hadn't in fact used the "slave"?
In other words why does it take Jehovah to reveal to the governing body things that other people have worked out easilly before them?

when you make croocked what the lord made straight, you might use an analogy as an excuse like "tacking"

when you continueously cange the "word" that was spoken once and completely, you might use an analogy as an excuse like "light geting gradualy brighter"

as excuses go for the ever canging doctorine of the WT, analogys can fool some of the people some of the time, and that is the best you can do if you are acting without biblical support.
