JW's attitude towards survivors of 9/11/2001

A friend got an email from her dub sister, back East. She told her that they had a report in their congregation that there were 72 witnesses inside the towers when the planes hit. All but one got out. It makes all of us, here, so angry at that attitude. On the news, how many Catholics are saying they have heard "X" number of their own got out? How many Baptists, or Jews, OR MUSLIMS? No one is saying anything like that, and I'll bet their places of worship aren't reporting this either.

It just shows, once again, their REAL feeling towards non witnesses. They are "worldly" and not worthy of being saved.......unless they convert. It's sick!!

Most people are just so happy when they hear that any one person has been reported as a survivor.

We found out there were some disfellowshipped people inside, and I know of 2 that got out. It's wonderful that they got out, but I am also thrilled that the dubs got out. It's all so horrible that anyone was trapped in that place.

    Okay, I'm done venting!!

    Hi troubled,
I read your posts on the other thread, just now, and I think you are a really nice person. All I can say is that MOST JW's are not like you. I was a witness for 50 years, and nearly everyone I knew was taking great delight in any tragedy, thinking it was bringing us closer to Armageddon, and were all evidence of "Jehovah" and his timetable. Most of the witnesses I knew, in all those years, were anxious to see other destroyed, and delighted in thinking that ONLY dubs would survive. We were very well known, and very active, so not the "average" witness, by any means.

It has only been in the last 5 or 6 years, that ANY witness would acknowledge that if a person died at Armageddon, they had any hope at all, of being in God's memory.

Again, I think you are great, and have a kind, loving heart. There are some like you inside, but you are rare.

    Hey y'al,

My m-i-l came over yesterday, and we spoke briefly about the NYC disaster, which she brought up. "It's terrible. 14 brothers/sisters lost their lives." We brought up that it was terrible that there were thousands of innocent people who lost their lives.

"Well, that too." was her reply.

She's 80 and been a jw for her entire life. She's not senile, just enveloped in her own religion - and no one else really matters.
