    Dec ’04 1,923

TOTAL BAPTIZED FOR U.S. BRANCH IN 2005: 28,384

August 2005 Peak Publishers as reported in December 2005 KM : 1,035,802 (noted as second highest peak in u.s. history)

I don't have the average Publisher count for the year. Once we have the average count for the year we can see the growth percentage.

Just for comparison here is the total baptized in the U.S. Branch over the past 5 years & average pubs.:

    2000: 30,290 945,000

    2001: 27,731 945,689

    2002: 29,816 972,754

    2003: 30,401 988,236

    2004: 30,576 992,809

    2005: 28,384 ???????

If anyone has access to their KMs we could determine the average publisher count.

Roughly, 30,585 witnesses were baptized last service year.

There was an increase of 2,022 publishers.

At least 28,350 publishers went AWOL, died or were df'd / d'ad.

28,384 were baptized last service year (sept '04 - aug. '05).

    With the monthly figures then:

service year average publishers is: 995,073

last years average was : 992,809

For a grand increase of 2,264

    Or a % of: +.23% Hmmmm, I guess that reports as a 0.

If they split it out Spanish/English it would be clear there is a gaping wound in English speaking territories. A wound roughly the size and shape of the Internet. As the Spanish speaking communities get forums going the same will be tru for them.

    26,182 dubs lost.

    2.62% attrition rate.

Does anyone have these monthly numbers going back a decade or so? I'd like to do a month to month comparison over that time period to create a trend line. Annual baptism numbers too.

From what I'm seeing they have put forth a tremendous effort this last year to achieve that *0*.
This is easy to see: The assembly "obey" manuscripts, the Watchtower "do more" study articles, the elder's school scoldings, and the pressure applied by the circuit overseers to all in range, indicate to me the Society is well aware of the dire straights they are in with their goals for the Witness People of of blind obedience and willing conformity. They are keeping the numbers but loosing control.
These certainly are interesting times. It's fun to watch a giant become powerless and struggle within itself.

Yes, Gary, treading water for 120 years is very difficult.

treading water for 120 years is very difficult

A trifle exaggerated? Don't forget there have been periods of high growth.

Also to be remembered is that the current figures aren't 'static'. By that I mean that the 100,000 pubs of 50 or so years ago are not the same people as now. So they've been repklacing themselves generation after generation.

Still, the recent year or two of "treading water" is very significant.

It's a pity they don't publish the age of those that were baptised. If it's anything like the UK, even when I was still in a lot of the baptisms were the children of jws, aged about 10 - 13, who had been persuaded to do it by their parents. Quite a few of them are not in the lie now.
