It's official. I'll be taking my first long distance ride this summer on my motorcycle. Seeing that a good majority of you from the board have been a huge part of my exjw life, I would like to use this ride as a way to meet as many of you as I can along the way. As of right now, my plans are to leave Michigan, hit Toronto first, and then head over to the New York border. From that point on, I would love to hear suggestions on where to go. *hint hint*

I'd prefer to stay away from core major metropolitan areas(avoid major traffic if at all possible) - the outskirts are fine. My trip would probably take place at the beginning of June -- I know, kind of early, but it's best to be prepared. So if you would like to meet up in or around your hometown, please reply. If you would prefer to keep your area hidden from this thread due to obvious reasons, just pm me and I'll arrange with you via pm or email.

This is gonna be a fun trip!

If you find yourself in Southern New Jersey give a hollar and Ill ride with you a bit or you can join us for dinner.

    Cool

What do you ride? It's mainly Jap bikes, myself, but they aren't so good for the long haul.

You'll have a great time. I rode across eastern Canada a couple of years ago and came back through the States. That ride was 6,036 miles. If you happen to be riding in June, try to work in a stop at Laconia, NH during bike week (June 9-17, http://www.laconiamcweek.com/). I'm kicking around investing in a good bar mounted GPS unit before I head for the Gulf this summer. I rented a car that had a turn by turn GPS unit and it was pretty slick. Didn't get lost once using it. Then again, getting lost on a bike trip can be fun too.

Hey, we need to get all the bikers together on this forum and do regional rides. Micah and I are still planning on our cross country trip in May, leaving D.C. for the west coast, probably on the first. We will be travelling, probably Rt. 50 to the west, and then come back east on a southern route (8/80). All bikers are invited to ride along with us on any portion of the ride, and we also would love to meet with any along the way to share a meal and just get to know you.

Jourles, not trying to hijack your thread, but man, if you’ll be in this area (Northern Virginia, Leesburg/Winchester) we’d love to ride with ya or even just break some bread. And if you want, we'd love to have you join us at any point on our ride.

Micah: 2005 Triumph Bonneville (800 cc)

Very nice! I might head over to the other side of the lake towards the end of summer. I'll be sure to let you know.

I've got a long week to tool around. I was thinking of hitting the Bedminster area(stopping in and saying hi to a few people at my corporate office). Is that far from you?

I picked up a brand new '05 Honda Sabre last year. I'm a Honda whore so nothing else came to mind when shopping. I wanted a bike with carbs and not efi(the 1300 and 1800 have efi - the sabre was the next largest - 1100cc - without efi). I like to tinker around and get my hands greasy. Here is the latest incarnation of the beast with everything mounted(minus the travel bags):

Yep, I'm already looking for a Garmin. The problem is, most mounts are good for bars up to 1". I've got fat 1 1/2" Tbars on mine. I'll have to do a little bit of modding to make one fit ---

You should be back home by the time I make my trip. I was looking at possible routes I was going to take and N. Virginia was an area I planned on cruising through. Breaking bread sounds like a good plan. I'm always on the lookout for fine culinary experiences.

Bedminster is a couple hours north of me and a bitch to get to on the bike. If you are up for it maybe we can meet up in New Hope PA. Its about halfway between my town and BM. Great bike town. I see you are a HONDA RIDER, me too.
