    Jehovah's Witness convention

Saturday, July 29, 2006 Final weekend sessions of the Jehovah's Witnesses district convention are from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Sunday at the Cleveland State University Wolstein Center, 2000 Prospect Ave. Admission to all sessions is free. A widely known example is how, historically, most members rejected blood transfusions, even when doing so meant risking life. The church has clarified its stance - members now may receive certain blood products (instead of whole blood). Despite the recent interpretation regarding blood, Jones maintains that he and most Jehovah's Witnesses believe the Bible - and its informed study - can yield "all that we need to know in life."

----------- Danny Haszard comment-Jehovah's Witnesses do use many products that are derived from blood banks {so called blood 'fractions'} but they themselves won't donate a drop. Discussion for forum readers (1) Would it now be appropriate for a Jehovah's Witness to make a blood donation to the Red Cross and other similiar agencies, since they are now permitted to use these blood products aka blood 'fractions'? (2) Since the Jehovah's Witnesses ultimate sacrilege has been modified, and parts or fractions of a forbidden substance are now permitted... Would it now be permissible to have sexual activity fractions as long as whole copulation intercourse is abstained? My connection and propriety-I was crippled with bleeding ulcerative colitis for 28 years from 1970-1998 was born 3rd generation Jehovah's Witness in 1957 and have been admitted to hospitals and had to sign the 'JW no blood form' countless times. If i woke up like Rip van Winkle from a 20 year slumber or DIED from taking my stand on 'abstaining from blood' and then resurrected, I would call down evil on the blasphemous murderous cult charlatans who rule the man-made Watchtower religion.

Some more gems from above news article: ...Roach explains that such a protracted period between introduction and baptism is the norm. "People who come to us," he says, "take up a personal study of the Bible" and consider how they will conduct their own evangelism once they are members. Already poised and a good student, the young woman plans to enroll in the Cuyahoga Community College registered-nurse program at the Metropolitan Campus in Cleveland this fall. see here for higher educational contradictions WTS NO HIGHER EDUCATION dumb dub To reach this Plain Dealer reporter: [email protected] 216-999-4116

I just do not know what to think of this article. On one hand, the Society realizes they have a public relations problem and are trying to change its image. The "Big News" blood article put pressure on them, and for the first time they are telling the general public about the possibility of blood fractions. This is good as the average doctor may read this article and become aware of the possible life-saving treatment. This shows that we can pressure the Society to change. However, the article stops short of telling the general public about the misrepresentations of secular literature, rapid doctrinal shifts in the blood policy, or how incongruent the blood policy is with the JW interpretention "abstain from blood." This is where we need to do more work. I gave each of my doctors copies of the BIG NEWS Journal article. Each had a story to tell about those crazy JWs. Each told their collegues.

The college quote makes me puke. Inside the "Convention" there will be a "show" on not attending college and higher education. This is the classic "bait & switch." Plus, registered rurses ....why they administer blood products! Talk about a "worldly" profession. Plus, don't some of them make $75k a year. Gee, who would want that job?

    Ooops

baited breath This is a misspelling. It's ``bated breath.'' ``Bated'' here is an old participle related to abated -- it means stopped. ``Bated breath'' is breath that has been stopped, held. ``With bated breath'' means ``while holding [your] breath'' or ``in breathless anticipation.'' ``.

Would it now be permissible to have sexual activity fractions as long as whole copulation intercourse is abstained? I wouldn't hold your bated (or baited, like when you have a big worm in your mouth) breath. The JWs went through the "as long as you don't put it in" phase a long time ago (think of the Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis years) and it was taken full advantage of by all the young hot blooded JWs. Then the WTS realized they had left open the potential for a lot of pretty serious heavy breathing up on Blueberry Hill. In the early '60s they had some nitty gritty clarifications and that started tightening things up. In the years since they have only gotten more and more narrow. Now the Witlesses feel lucky they are allowed to have missionary sex with their own mates (as long as the lights are off, of course).
