In her attempt to kill the Thread Killer thread, MAF said:

Has anyone got the nerve to start a "how old were you when first started masturbating thread"? I know I don't, but I'd like to see it.

Maybe masturbation kills brain cells, much like drinking. I honestly can't remember when I started. I remember masturbating long before we moved to Florida, so I couldn't have been any older than 5 or 6. But then, I'm a guy. I know from having a son of my own that boys will latch onto that appendage like it's a gift from God (which it IS, really ) just as soon as they discover that it's there.

Damn bro, you are a fast learner.

Great topic. It seems like it was soon after birth, around the same time I starting shaving - 12. Followed by a lifetime of witness guilt about it.

And since I'm now outed as having an interest in the subject, I think I was 11. Maybe 12. It's all a bit hazy now.

Dan-O, you just did that to get me off (whoops) the threadkiller thread, you mean mean man. And I said I didn't mean to kill it, just maim it a little.

I never self pleasured as a virgin ever... and even when married to my first husband I thought it was wrong to touch myself even for him..

I finally broke down and self pleasured two years after our divorce.... 1996.

Right around my turn to puberty my ex elder father would quote President Nathan Knorr's dire warning that,"masturbators will be 'cut off' and NOT survive armageddon".

Other than that,I have no further commentary,as I don't have an anoy alias like some of you....

    Gosh, no sinister subtext there.

Actually Spencer at 6 got a big kick out of calling me in to the bathroom while he was taking a bath to show me what happens when the water "tickled his pe-pe." Yah, that wasnt an uncomfortable situation or anything

I was about 10 yrs old when I discovered that straddling the couch arm made me feel funny. First "Big O" at about 13 while talking on the phone during a dare at a slumber party. First time "Big M" was when I was 15, listening to the radio show "Love Line" late at night. But being a girl, it was a rarity untill after I grew up and discovered reality sex :)

    Ah yes.

It was the spring of 1982. I was just a few months past my 14th birthday. The Ninth grade sex ed class in school dealt mostly with human sex-organ anatomy, but they occaisionally made some mysterious reference to the subject of self-pleasure -- something I didn't fully understand.

So I thought about it, and thought some more, and experimented. This took a few days, mind you, and it was, well, rather frustrating in retrospect, until finally something magical happened and VOILA!!! "I have seen the top of the mountain..... and it is good"

I spent coniderably less time practicing to improve my Rubik's cube time after that little discovery. In fact, it is amazing I passed the Ninth grade.

But enough about me. Chevy, tell us more about this slumber party!

I think I was 12 or 13 when I started. Of course I wasn't raised a JW, I joined at 21. I'm 34 now. I don't think I ever 'stopped' completely, because I figured that a) it was my business and it didn't hurt anyone and b) I believed then and still believe that it's a healthy way to relieve frustration without needing a partner. I never quite bought the WTS line that it could be *that* damaging. I did, however have a lot of guilt around it, when I was still intensely trying to 'please God'.

Now that I'm in an 'active' relationship, I don't so much. But it's never 'off the table.' I still believe it's a healthy way to deal with natural urges.
