This after noon my daughter was talking with a Sister and she asked her,"Hey Sister So&So,...I noticed in some of the publications there are pictures of Brothers with signs that say "Religion is a snare"....when di we become a Religion Sister So&So?"

Then Sister So&So answered that," Being a Jehovah Witness is a way of life sweety but,The World has branded it a Religion."

My daughter didn't say anything further, just left it because she knows this Sister will think about it in time.

    agape,

    bye bye 4 now

Perhaps you need to remind the sister that the Jehovah's Witnesses are a religion before she is disfellowshipped for independent thinking.

I can see the sentiment in what the sister was saying .The pracice of being christian only in church goes on everywhere and she probly was trying to convey that it is a fulltime responsibility .But of course people like elsewhere were never meant to see the conversation .lol

How easily the JW mind flops around. One of the favorite Scriptures they apply to themselves is (NIV):

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

The Greek word here (threskeia) for "religion" is translated in the NWT as "form of worship." What's the difference? And the vast majority of translations, commentaries and lexicons define threskeia as best meaning "religion." Trench (Synonyms of the New Testament) makes some interesting comments (p. 175):

"...we have in threskos...which still more nearly corresponds to the Latin "religiosus," the zealous and diligent performer of the divine offices, of the outward service of God. The word indeed nowhere else occurs in the whole circle of the profane literature of Greece; but...we are in no difficulty about its exact meaning. Threskeia (='cultus,' or perhaps more strictly, 'cultus exterior') is predominantly the ceremonial service of religion..."

Like it or not, by their own admission, the WTS IS a religion, and, what's more, a CULT.

Well, if you research further you would find that at some point the brothers decided that there was no problem with the use of the word "religion".... instead they often use the terms "true religion" and "false religion."

They say there is only one true religion. Theirs.

simplesally, ah yes, the "true religion." But then, that wasn't what Rutherford said, was it? "Religion is a snare and a racket." That was the whole point of that campaign, that ALL religion is a snare and a racket. But then the realization dawns on them---

"darn, the WTS is a religion too!

What are we gonna do now?

Hey, let's just call it the 'true' religion, that'll work, eh?

    Yeah, let's do it!"

<<signed, sealed, and delivered by Fred and Nathan>> Done deal.

    What a joke.
