Do the GB go out in service? If so, where?

    Thanks for any feedback.

Tis a question that I'd like an answer to as well.

Lyman Swingle, for one, used to go out in service. Knorr, Franz and Henschel didn't.

They count their time by giving talks.

When people in large number begin to understand that all of the heavy rules and burdens the WT elite put upon their followers do not apply to themselves, then they will begin to understand the WT leaders are nothing but self-serving, self-worshiping, hypocritical pharisees; they are exactly the same kind of odious and disgusting people that Jesus roundly condemned in Matthew 23.

They do if they aren't in the infirmary. My question is whether they count time during the weekly governing body meetings and such.

Once a few years before Fred Franz died, they had him out in field service going from door to door in Brooklyn. He only did about three doors and because so tired he had to go in and lie down. But they played that scenario for all it was worth. Look, even Brother Fraqnz, at his advanced age, still goes out in field service.

    Hi Puffs,

I was in Bethel during the pre-GB sixties and can confirm that with rare exceptions (Ray Franz and Ed Dunlap among them) the Bethel bigwigs, i.e. Knorr, Suiter, George Couch, Harley Miller, Henschel, et al were notorious slackers when it came to field service and meetings at the local Kingdom Halls to which they were assigned.

In fact, it was a tacit understanding that one of the greatest perks of being a Bethelite, apart from the adulation of the locals, was the ability to blow off meetings and service with impunity by invoking Bethel duties. And you were untouchable, even by the Crcuit Overseer!

For more details, suggest you do a search under ``Bethel Memoirs'' for more details. Regards from Room 215

Interesting...I figured as much....I am on page 163 of CoC and Ray F. did mention that the GB rarely, if ever went out in service. This confirms it.

    Thanks for the information.

Room 215, that *was* one of the best things about being at Bethel! Being able to "stay at home" &get drunk with other Bethelites, rather than choking down one's meat at the proper time

Oh yeah, is it true that they, the GB, are given cars (Olds?), while the "worker" Bethelites are forced to take the subway to the Kingdom Halls they are assigned to?

I found out about the "car thing"....I called CircuitLeasing and they are the clearing house for JW CO's. Keep the car for 4 years and sell it to some unsuspecting R&F.
