Crossing the Rubicon

I am a history buff, so I consider myself as having crossed the Rubicon on May 1, 2007. That was the date of my first post on this forum. The warm welcome and replies to my subsequent posts showed me that I had nothing to fear.

I want to thank Simon and all of you guys for treating me so kindly. I lurked for seven years before I could bring myself to participate. I lost faith in the WT organization a long time ago, and I thought no one else could be trusted. Thank y'all again for your patience and support. I have a story to tell, but for now I am not ready to tell it. Suffice it to say I've come a long way, baby.

Hi Snowbird. Glad you crossed your Rubicon!

Julius Caesar did it as an act of war. So I take it this is your "volley" against what the WTS stands for.

BTW - without giving too much away, can I assume your nickname means you were formerly from the northern regions? If so, hopefully the climate you're now in is more to your liking!

Don't stop fighting... Tell your story.

    Gopher,

No, I get my nickname from a combination of my last name and the fact that I was told by classmates that I reminded them of a little bird. Yes, my opening salvo was when I told the BOE that I DO NOT wish to return to the meetings!!!

No going back now, eh? Glad to hear it.

No going back. I've always hated hypocrisy and deceit with a passion. Yesterday, a young man was shot by sheriff deputies because he was allegedly menacing them with a knife. His parents came into the WT when he was just a kid. He hated going to all those meetings, field service, etc. He rebelled; started on drugs; had to resort to robbery to support his habit. Well, you know the rest. As I stated, I have quite a story to tell when I'm ready.

I am happy that after having lurked for so many years you took that commited step and that the forum helped you in clearing up what the WTS really stands for. I will be looking forward to the story that you mentioned.
