Gotta love this quote:
1975 CE - In the history of the Jehovah?s Witnesses, only 1914 stands out as a date more hyped and hoped for than 1975. Starting with the failure of the ?40?s to bring their beloved apocalypse, the Witness leadership started looking for a new date to impale their followers? hopes on. By the mid-sixties, that date was solidified and made public in the peppily titled tome, ?Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God?. Its proud author, then JW president Nathan Knorr, stated that 1975 would mark the 6000th year of Creation and the due date of the Second Coming?s coming. Having learned exactly zippity doo-dah from their 1940?s debacle, the JWs once again advised the rank and file to sell their homes, quit their jobs, turn down their college scholarships, tear up their resumes, lose their fiancés and knock off window shopping for any of those maternity clothes or baby carriages. Life, said the leadership, was to consist solely of praying and meeting and door-to-door god-bothering for the remainder of their time on this dirty, nasty, icky, ka-ka, poo-poo little Earth.
LOL.

Nearly every turn of the century mentioned, god was supposed to have showed up in some way. I s'pose we gotta wait till 3000 comes before some real shit happens now......don't we?

Maybe not. It could be 4000 or 5000, or maybe 10,000. Those bible math* guys were such jokers. They didn't have proper numbers ya know. So, they used letters for numbers, and nobody really knows what they were trying to say. The romans improved it a bit, but they had to wait for the arabs to invent the numbers that we use today, before math was totally, clearly defined.

Truly, nothing cheers the heart of an apocalypse fan more than hearing that millions of their fellow human beings are about to be slaughtered like pigs in an abattoir...
Is that the essence of dubdom or what!?!
Very cool site. Thanks for sharing.

What an excellent website, six. Very informative. Terribly clever! Nice work.
I didn`t know that Elijah Mohammed had made apocalyptic predictions. All the stuff I`ve seen and articles read, I never picked that up. huh! DOH
There was a virtual explosion of doomsday proclaimers in the pre-millenium 90s. It`s quite astounding, really, in this day and age. At least to me it is, but I`m far too Spock-like to imagine people would believe that shyte.
Being a Canadian,
March 8, 1997 CE: A religious sect in Quebec, Canada calling themselves `The Vortex of the Star of David` publicly announced that the world would be finis on March 8. I understand the folks in Quebec can get pretty serious about secession, but really ...
