Child abuse-unbelieveable reason for claims...

I had a conversation with a jw on Monday and decided to tell them about the child abuse problems that they did'nt know about...It was quite a long conversation that I thought would at least be considered fleetingly due to the probs re the Catholic church...But the final parting words were'Satan will use ANYTHING to discredit 'our' GOOD STANDING,there will be an increase in this type of report because Satan is tryin to dirty our good name.'So even if their arses are hauled to prison by the thousands, eventually; they'll claim it's a sign of persecution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the police and courts will probably believe you; but not your congregation...That's the shittiest thing that's ever come out of his mouth.Pure denial from a source that knows no facts.

After the df'd man killed his wife & kids in Oregon, a jw I work with brought out a positive PR point the WTBTS had just announced. I said they needed it after the shunning of the killer was blasted all over the papers. Then I spoke about the child abuse reports mounting - again in the newspapers.

His response? "Well, the Bible is surely right! Jehovah's people are really being persecuted for their beliefs!" Could have knocked me right over......and uncharacteristically, my jaw dropped.

"WHAT beliefs? How in the world could the accuracy of the newspapers about Jehovah's Witnesses be construed persecution?" (me)

(jw) "Because they're reporting negative things about God's true people. It's persecution by Satan because we're in the Last Days. That man was df'd - it's not our fault that he killed his family. We (jw's) had no choice but to follow the scriptures."

I just gave up - let the "dead to bury the dead." The worst thing about this conversation was - this is a smart young man! But get him on jw stuff - dumb as the day's long. The crappiest thing is that he's parroting what his family & wife tells him because he doesn't read squat himself. He can't explain squat.....just "believes." Idiot.

jw's would laugh and say "Satan RUNS the Catholic church! It's part of Babylon the Great - which the Great Harlot rides - and Satan controls the Great Harlot......so Satan controls the Catholic Church." In fact, I've heard (even used) that reasoning in the past.

Dubs can talk their way through a lot of screwball thinking.

It's a sad fact that the majority would rather see a child abused than the truth revealed; they seem so connvinced of the righteousness of the org. they have no room for pity or compassion.

Don't know about the majority - but I agree that a good many jw's would rather keep the child molester within the congregation than sully the "Godly reputation" of the KH. There can't be pity or compassion shown when God's reputation is at stake - it's called "agape love." Love governed by righteous principles - which translates into JW rules.

Yeah, missing the whole point of the scripture - which finished "for the sake of the truth." People are being hauled before the courts (hopefully) for the sake of the children.

Which is like what this young jw said........fullfilled prophecy. "In the Last Days, ..........." You've got to admit, the WTBTS can cover their asses from a multitude of sins by quoting scripture to suit their ass & sin. Sooner or later, there will be no more cover.

They'll still survive - but hopefully, the WTBTS & other churches will be scrutinized more carefully by the government and child protection agencies. It's only about a hundred years late, eh?

It would seem to me that their reporting policy on pedophilia, nevermind outright child abuse would entail a no tolerance policy. But no, they go according to the laws of the land (Ceasar) and no further. Damned be the children involved.

Here is what I found today on the net regarding mandatory reporting of child abuse.

These state MANDATE (up for legal (mis-interpretation) reporting by the clergy (16):

CT, DE, FL, IN, KY, MS, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NC, OH, OK, RI, TN, TX

These states do not list the clergy (19):

AL, AK, AR, CO, DC, GA, HI, IL, IA, KS, LA, MA, MI, NY, SD, VT, VA, WA, WI

These states list the clergy but give enough leeway for not reporting (16):

AZ, CA, ID, ME, MD, MN, MO, MT, NV, ND, OR, PA, SC, UT, WV, WY

These are listed as of December 31, 200 by the U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
