Studying the new "Keep on the Watch!" brochure - The Illustrations

  Dubs now are using their newly released "Keep on the Watch!" brochure to "invite" the lapsed, the recently interested, the unsuspecting to commit themselves to "God's earthly organisation".
  

  The trouble is that the Writing Department have used this glossy brochure to misrepresent the 'real' truth.

  We've already looked at page 18 which shows a picture of a happy social gathering in "the new system" with plastic chairs to sit on. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/80288/1.ashx

  But there is more! Just turn to page 7 of the brochure. It shows four small pictures with the caption "Global preaching of the good news". One of them shows a man (dressed in smart jacket and tie - of course!) supposedly witnessing to another man. Now look carefully. He holds an open Bible in his left hand whilst holding his briefcase/witnessing bag in his right hand.

  So what's wrong? This. How did he turn the pages of his Bible?

  Go on you try it! Pick up a copy of the Bible in your left hand and pick up a bag in your right. Now try turning to the scripture text you've selected and then try to do anything else!!

  You see, you can't. Like so much else in the WTS publications it looks nice but it's not real! It's all a fake. it's an illusion. It's just deception.

  OK, you can stop trying to turn up the Bible now.

  And if you think the pictures are false, try looking at the words!

  Man, Ozzie you're grasping at straws here. I can explain the picture which you describe two different ways 1. The Witness did put his briefcase down then realized in a panic he was talking to a worldly guy that might steal his stuff so he picked it back up with his right hand since he's right handed and it was by his right leg. OR 2. He doesn't need to turn the pages because Jehovah will send a wind to do it for him.

  well this is obviously a JW and...probably from one of the mid-western US states. So yes, not only did he fear being beaten and robbed but he also feared (once he saw that this man used pink gardening tools) molestation by a man who obviously practices abominations. If you look back at scriptures about Jehovah's servants in Sodom they clearly hold their bibles in one hand and briefcases in the other. The briefcase is used as a shield and the Bible as a weapon.

  Exactly. The bible is the swoard of the spirit, the briefcase is the shield of faith. The larger the briefcase, the more protection.

  You are right in that the production of this brochure artwork is sloppy to say the least. Going back to the New World picture on page 18 ;- all the people are of Afro ethnic group, no diversity there, even though one of the captions on the page is that "People of all nations united etc.." The womens clothes and bags are obviously shop bought and, did you ever see a group of kids look so happy at the sight of a picnic of raw fruit and veg? I love the girl's beaming smile with the melon. I bet they had a hoot posing for it................ Perhaps it was easier for an artist to draw such pictures, then they did not have to get real props

  The real points of issue though are the falsehood and misrepresentation . take p 19 "The crucial question is, Are we making the needed adjustments in order to be counted worthy to be a part of that new earth under the new heavens"? with warning examples of Jerusalem in 70ad, Noahs flood, and Sodom and Gomorrah , No doubt we can guess the answer to that question.
