Blondie had a quote in another thread from the WatchTower. It is sooooooo revealing as to who JW?s understand their final authority to be.

w98 3/15 18-19 Living Up to Christian Dedication in Freedom

4 In order to avoid misunderstandings, Jehovah?s Witnesses try to be careful about how they express themselves. Instead of saying, "the Society teaches," many Witnesses prefer to use such expressions as, "the Bible says" or, "I understand the Bible to teach." In this way they emphasize the personal decision that each Witness has made in accepting Bible teachings and also avoid giving the false impression that Witnesses are somehow bound to the dictates of some religious sect.

OMG! You?ve gotta be kidding me???

    This paragraph is un-fricken-believable:

    1. first off, ?to avoid misunderstandings?. The misunderstanding that JW?s look to the WTS as the final authority is happening, not primarily in the world outside of the bOrg, but within the organization itself by JW?s! The slip of a JW saying that the ?Society says?? isn?t even a misunderstanding. It?s a factual statement that a R&F JW doesn?t hear or understand when it originates from their high-controlled mind and passes over their own lips.

2.?many Witnesses prefer to use?? BS! Hardly any JW?s I knew prefer to use that expression. The only ones that I knew who would prefer to say this are the ones who were cognizant of how damming such a phrase was. These ones knew it was the truth to say that the WTS is the final authority, but could never give that impression to the R&F JW or one in the ministry.

    3. ??emphasize the personal decision that each Witness has made in accepting Bible teachings?? Personal decision, my arse. The only personal decision a JW makes is to become baptized as a JW. After that, all personal decisions are relegated to the WTS.

    4. ?? giving the false impression that Witnesses are somehow bound to the dictates of some religious sect?? And the TRUTH shall set you FREE!!!! Yes, just say it, say the truth. It will make you feel better! No one time can I recall that the WTS has been so close to admitting that they are a man-made sect.

I would love to show this to my wife.

?Look babe, many have the impression that JW?s are a sect because of the way they revere the Society and throw aside the Bible. So can you show me from the Bible why it?s ok to bust open a PiƱata but it?s not ok to come with me to Thanksgiving with my family??

Jumpin? Geezus on a pogo stick, this stuff just enrages me.

I gotta find a more calming hobby, like bomb defusing or something, sheesh?.

Were you going to the meetings then, Winston? I remember the day I got that magazine and read those paragraphs. I had to run out and show Irreverent. But I stayed...I thought I could filter out the BS, but the filters got clogged.

I think the WTS was trying to negotiate recognition in some countries and this made them sound like a cult following "the Society" which made everyone's personal decisions.

How about trying to change from "worldly people" to "non-witnesses"?

Winston: Amazing isn't it, how quickly exjws learn to distinguish the WTBTS's use of doublespeak.

Now, Inhale deeply through the nostrils. ............. exhale through the mouth. Repeat until calm.

Now get back to work !

Every time I can remember reading Watch Tower Publishing Corporation produced apologies or heard interviews by Corporate officials, whenever they say they don't want people to get the "wrong" idea, what they really mean they don't want people to get the "right" idea. It is an undeniable fact that Witnesses are absolutely bound to the dictates of the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation. They have printed that. They are bound to DPP. (Doctrine - Practices - Policies) No Witness I know has ever been free to dissent on one of those elements.

Thanks for bringing this up. It's a perfect display of the depth of dishonesty this company is willing to print. GaryB

Approved association with Jehovah?s Witnesses requires accepting the entire range of the true teachings of the Bible, including those Scriptural beliefs that are unique to Jehovah?s Witnesses
