At the last District Convention, the book "Worship the Only True God" was released intended to be used along with the "Knowledge" book on home Bible studies. Both books are to be studied before baptism. So, what are the 'new recruits' learning? This is the fifth in a series of posts selecting a "highlight" from each chapter.
Discussing the glorious freedom that "true Christians" (i.e. Dubs) enjoy, the WTS states that
"Jehovah does not make us figure out by trial and error what is the best way to live."
Sounds good, but wait, how is that transmitted to us?
"Lovingly, Jehovah informs us of all these things by means of the Bible and his visible organisation." (p45 par9)
Note that the organisation holds equal rank with the Bible. This theme is repeated throughout this study book, ensuring that new recruits are left in no doubt as to the WTS's importance in their salvation.
So we find in chapter 14 the words: "Jehovah is guiding us today by means of his visible organisation under Christ." (p135) Thus not only is the Bible the teacher, but so is the organisation and it's the organisation which is "guiding us today".
This elevation of the organisation reaches even higher: "By being loyal to Jehovah's organisation, we show that Jehovah is our God and that we are united in worship of him." (p135) So it's the 'touchstone' of salvation.
There is no indication that Jesus is a personal saviour; rather salvation only comes "in association with Jehovah's organisation" i.e. a corporate salvation. There is no mention that salvation proceeds from the Father through Jesus; it's from the organisation. In fact, there's no mention of dedication to do God's will but only to serve the organisation. This shows the true basis of salvation according to the WTS.
How different from the words of the apostle Paul: "Not that we are the masters over your faith, but we are fellow workers for your joy, for it is by your faith that you are standing." - 2 Corinthians 1:24
