WTS says that more than the Bible is needed! (Worship Book chapter 5)

At the last District Convention, the book "Worship the Only True God" was released intended to be used along with the "Knowledge" book on home Bible studies. Both books are to be studied before baptism. So, what are the 'new recruits' learning? This is the fifth in a series of posts selecting a "highlight" from each chapter.

Discussing the glorious freedom that "true Christians" (i.e. Dubs) enjoy, the WTS states that

"Jehovah does not make us figure out by trial and error what is the best way to live."

Sounds good, but wait, how is that transmitted to us?

"Lovingly, Jehovah informs us of all these things by means of the Bible and his visible organisation." (p45 par9)

Note that the organisation holds equal rank with the Bible. This theme is repeated throughout this study book, ensuring that new recruits are left in no doubt as to the WTS's importance in their salvation.

So we find in chapter 14 the words: "Jehovah is guiding us today by means of his visible organisation under Christ." (p135) Thus not only is the Bible the teacher, but so is the organisation and it's the organisation which is "guiding us today".

This elevation of the organisation reaches even higher: "By being loyal to Jehovah's organisation, we show that Jehovah is our God and that we are united in worship of him." (p135) So it's the 'touchstone' of salvation.

There is no indication that Jesus is a personal saviour; rather salvation only comes "in association with Jehovah's organisation" i.e. a corporate salvation. There is no mention that salvation proceeds from the Father through Jesus; it's from the organisation. In fact, there's no mention of dedication to do God's will but only to serve the organisation. This shows the true basis of salvation according to the WTS.

How different from the words of the apostle Paul: "Not that we are the masters over your faith, but we are fellow workers for your joy, for it is by your faith that you are standing." - 2 Corinthians 1:24

In some ways the Catholic Church is the same, in some ways different. The Catholic Church holds that Sacred Tradition is of equal footing with the bible, and together with the bible make up part of what is called The Deposit of Faith. An example of Sacred Tradition would be our honoring of Mary. This is oppossed to simple tradition (small t) which is valuable, but also easily changed (i.e. praying the mass in Latin or celibate priests).

One out that Catholics get that JW's don't is that the church teaches (if you listen VERY CAREFULLY) that the individual INFORMED conscience out ways all this stuff. If I've informed my conscience and it tells me to do something that contradicts what the church teaches, it would be a sin for me to NOT obey the dictates of my conscience. Not alot of people are aware of that.

Yet braindead JW's refuse to see past this, all they can see is what the Society tells them.

Since leaving the borg, it's amazing how these things open up to you. You are right Ozzie, they truly are acting like 'masters over the faith'. It's so presumptuous of them to even say that they are 'God's Org'.

Thankfully, we know that they are not, yet there is still 6 million plus poor people out there that we must try to reach. I have had numerous discussions with several Witnesses about it all, reaching them is easy. It is a matter of whether or not you can penetrate their mental pattern, in order to release them from this terrible spiritual bondage. Some, even when presented with these facts, simply chose to ignore them, being caught up with the mutterings of old men.

You can be a lemming to the system as long as you are unaware as to the facts. However, to continue to be a lemming, even when confronted with such facts, is the height of Lemminghood.

In addition to that, those who hear the comandments in this book and try to live by them while spreading the good news will be persecuted as well.

We are damned if we do and damned if we don't.

The only ones who are safe from rath are the stupid ones. According to the bible.

In a way - if you do hear, good news that is, fundamentalists will persecute you for it, particularly if you don't agree to add what they add, or take away.

But look at the miracle - the very same writing keeps them at bay - mainly, other than what is used.

Thanks Ozzie - I'm enjoying your posts on the book.

Anotehr example of how jws place the .org in the place of virtually being a Savior. I thought that was Christ's job.
