  (2nd topic started today, so it will be my last . When am I allowed to post more? Sometimes I have ideas but when I wait the three days before I can post another I forget what I was going to say. Anyway, I came across something that made me think. I'm always thinking hehe

  So, in Romans in NKJV bible I come across the vers Romans 1:16 which states For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.."

  the NWT states this: Romans 1:16

  For I am not ashamed of the good news; it is, in fact, God’s power for salvation to everyone having faith..."

  they use "good news" rather than Christ? Are they ashamed to say Christ's name?

  Just a thinking, i'd like to hear answers though.

  Here are a few similar verses from the early part of Romans:
  
  I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” (Ro 1:16 – 17)
  
  As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one. (Ro 3:10)
  
  Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.   What does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” (Ro 4:3)
  
  David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.” (Ro 4:6-8)
  
  Abraham’s faith was credited to him as righteousness. (Ro 4:9)
  
  It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. (Ro 4:13)

  I checked this verse on bible.cc. Most, but not all translations use 'of Christ' or 'of the Christ' According to the Greek lexicon on bible.cc 'Christos' meaning 'Christ' is used in the Greek text, so I don't know why some translations leave it out, maybe it depends what manuscript they use? Not sure, I'm not an expert! Here's some other translations of the verse:

  Sometimes I find it annoying that so many versions are out there. So annoying it is frustrating. How are we to get points to anyone in sharing the Word of God if they can prove us another way and try to shoot our claim down with their version.

  Because tou Khristou (of the Christ) doesn't exist at this place in the earliest manuscripts (Sinaiticus, Alexandrinus, Vaticanus etc.) and was obviously added later.

  There are many valid criticisms against the NWT, but what may seem "missing" in it is generally the result of commonly accepted textual scholarship (and will usually be found "missing" in most other modern translations too.)

  Faith is an excellent question! In this instance It is believing in something someone passed on thousands of years ago for no reason other than other people passed it on! None whatsoever! Unless you can look at the whole world as a child and view it all with open eyes, how can you so easily restrict yourselves to a collection of writings from a certain area? It is faithless to do so! Faithless in all the rest of the world has to offer!
