Herle, Nelson, The Trinity Doctrine Examined in the Light of History and the Bible, 1983; Penton, M. James, Apocalypse Delayed, 1985, pp. 174-5. Penton also says on pages 196 and 197 that the Society's writings on evolution such as Did Man Get Here by Evolution or Creation? from 1967 "are among the best published by the Watch Tower Society" as they relied on JWs who had "scientific and technical knowledge". Such publications are examples of the Watchtower's shallow scholarship. The Evolution book is a collection of misrepresentations, quoting out of context, and other typical Society misuses of sources. Boy, does this book bring back memories. I was attending my first convention of JWs in 1967 in Costa Mesa, California when this book was released. Thanks, Atlantis, for sharing this!!

This book was published towards the end of that era when the JWs were saying that Jesus did not wear a beard. So, this book shows Adam without one. The next year the WT came out and said that Jesus had worn a beard and so later editions of this book show Adam with a beard.

    Cabasilas:

Thank you cabasilas! You are very welcome! Yes, I remember the "beard wars" that kept going back and forth in the organization during those days.

I recall, visiting some of the witness friends in Texas back in those days when a ministerial servant got up on the platform with a "beard" to give his talk. I was a bit taken back that he was even allowed on the platform! However, according to one of the elders in the congregation the brother with the "beard," gave the excuse that he had a skin condition and it was difficult for him to shave.

So, he got away with it! Other brothers were told that if they grew a "beard" there would be "no" privileges for them. It didn't take long for most of the brothers to just forget the whole idea of growing a beard! Beards were considered "unclean" and didn't show the example of looking like a minister according to the Watchtower. What crap!

    Thanks my friend!

Thanks for providing this publication! I had been looking for this book a little while ago and ended up purchasing it from Amazon. It is nice to have a PDF version though to do word searches and print specific pages.
