Has anybody been guilted/emotionally blackmailed into attending the 2015 Memorial?
by Bucholz inhello everybody, i was wondering if anyone has been guilted or emotionally blackmailed into attending the memorial this year.
something along the lines of "if you loved your family you would at least attend the memorial".
i myself haven't attended in 5 years.

Does attending once a year provide some sort of jah protection or what? Or does it just make mom feel better? -

Who exactly is an apostate?
by SonoftheTrinity inif you are a non-believing relative or spouse who is hostile to their doctrine are you an apostate?
if you studied with them and rang the logical fallacy buzzer for chits and giggles to see how they would react does this make you an apostate?.
if you are a born in who never got baptised does this make you an apostate?.

I always thought you had to be a baptized member who left to be considered an apostate. You mean this varies from cong to cong?!

'If you go to my church this Sunday I will go to yours next Sunday'
by Sour Grapes inhow many witnesses would take up that offer if a person at the door asked them?
if that doesn't scream out "cult"!
if you know too much about the witnesses then you are an apostate.

Numerous people have made that very deal with my jw including myself. When he first joined up and for a few years after he sometimes said he would but only if the person went to the kh first. Fortunately all of them had been forewarned about jw's lying doctrine and would only agree to go if he went to church first. You can guess how that worked out, no church and no kh for either parties.
Then he gets arrogant and huffy and says Christians are not allowed to go to a kh but we all tell him we have no desire to go and no church would df someone for going. He does not understand that a person of real faith would not be affected by walking into a kh, mosque, temple or any other religious building or meeting. We just don't want to get his personal cult persona hopes up by our going even once to a kh. Nor do we want or need to experience love bombing first hand.

What are the Witnesses Afraid Of ?
by Sour Grapes inif the witnesses have the truth and have been going to meetings for many years and every week they learn how to be effective in the ministry and learn about the bible on sundays and every week have a family worship night, why are they afraid to talk to anyone who doesn't agree with them or question their beliefs?
if they have the truth then nothing can refute it.
the truth is the truth.

Truth should be able to withstand scrutiny.
If I had a nickel for every time a non jw asked me why jw's will not read their material (Christian tracks, books, etc...) in exchange for jw literature.........$$$$$ I'd be rich! but then I have to explain the whole thing to them, getting in time, placing litter-ature, and never, ever learning about other opinions from anybody but the gb or else jehoover will be mad at them and they may get zapped out of existence at the big A.

I have to tell you guys that when I talk to non jw's about jw's (holidays, etc..) they find it very sweet that some of you don't know how to wrap or do holidays and when you finally do they are all "aww, that's so cute! good for them! did they enjoy it?" and so on. It is an odd conversation if you think about it. -

BART EHRMAN answers my question
by TerryWalstrom inas a member on bart ehrman's blog, i am able to ask him direct questions.is jehovah in the bible?.
question:.
how firmly grounded in reality is the claim of jehovahs witnesses that the divine name (jehovah) belongs in the new testament?.

Did any of you go out and buy a KJV just to show the 'doors' that jehovah was in fact in their own Bible?
As a ubm I was so excited when my jw bought a KJV because I thought perhaps he was really reading a different version than the NWT. Wow! he was really and truly studying and comparing! alas, it was only to show the doors.
I don't think he does that anymore because I'm sure someone at some door must have used that KJV to point out a few other things wrong with their NWT, at least I can hope so anyway. yeah, leave me to my fantasies...........
