Some day each human individual may carry in his vest pocket his own private wireless telephone, through which he can receive reliable news from various parts of the earth and communicate at will with private individuals wherever they may be.

since Golden Age awake in 1922 also predicted that millions now living will never die, combining these prophecies, will there then be Cellphones, online device in the Wonderful World of the "Worthies", the JW ORG paradise?

These technical prophecies probably were culled from the worlgly literature and presented as "food in due season" by the then just 3 year old newly minted F&DS.

"Much of our news has been false propaganda, in the interest of the few, to control and keep in subjection the minds of the many. But ingenious devices are appearing on the horizon which promise to eliminate opportunity for fraud in conveying ideas."

Although it might be too optimistic, this was a good prediction based on the concept of everyone having ready access to a telephone in their pocket and being able to directly receive reports from other lands. When people live-blog or tweet events as they occur, it really does cut out the middleman of the news agency which might choose to put a slant on things. This only really became practical with the invention of the Internet, and ironically the access to different viewpoints that it readily provides has worked against the modern Society.

Amazing! I think this is officially the only prognostication the Watchtower Society has ever got right!

I do not know the source, but the concept of portable phones and/or radios predated this Golden Age article - it was not a prediction unique to the clever minds of the Watchtower Society.

Transistor radios - conveying instant news wherever you travelled - were in use a few short decades after this article was published.

The Golden Age also predicted in 1926 that we would all have "negative gravity devices"!

"Many have wondered how accidents would be avoided during Christ's kingdom, since we are told that nothing shall then hurt or destroy. Most accidents are due to gravitation and its effects. Falling from airplanes... etc., may be avoided by an individual negative gravity device.

"Scientists tell us that there is enough atomic energy in a finger-nail to propel a battleship. The people of the future may carry a little of this energy around with them, and if they fall down an elevator shaft they can let themselves down easy. Then they can turn a little more on and go back up. ... No danger of falling down stairs then." - Golden Age, March 24, 1926, p. 404.

Perhaps someone will be posting that in 3124 AD and praising the accurate prediction, VM44

But yes, as others have said, this was not a prediction original to the Society.
