"We know where were going, we know where we've been, we lived in Babylon, now we're goin' to our father's land....Exodus...ah yeah" Words of Bob Marley

I find it highly amusing that the biblical term for organised religion is so self explanatory......"Babble On" and so I think did Bob!! Has anyone got any more from the music library?

Well we know where we're going....but we don't know where we've been....(talking heads)

This is the biggest problem with religion...most don't bother to check where or how their particular religion began and how it developed. If they did, there would be very few religious follows of men.

****love Bob Marley by the way*****

Just like the catholics when asked how they got started they point to the apostle peter as the first pope . Apparenty none of the attrocities associated with them between that time are important .

    And it lifts you up
    Then it puts you down.
Then it feeds you life, then it lets you drown.
While it holds your heart then it slowly tears you apart
And you know and you know and you know life is what I mean.

That's life huh....make the best of the good times while they're here I reakon because they are fleeting and easily missed. And what would life be without the highs. The lows make us appreciate the highs even more.

While the Catholics today are not respionsible for the churc of the past, no one can deny they have the deaths of millions if not billions on their hands. Then again the OT itself is filled with death and murder, rape and everything that is vile. It too is a book of hatred and evil. They both should be condemened to hell for the bad they have done.

The only difference between the two is one was a global power, the other a small insignificant kingdom. They both brought their evil to the maximum number of people in their doman. One is not better than the other, they are the same. At no stage does either have a history of being kind in anyway to people they encounter. Its hard to find any real good inthe OT, the actual accounts would probably account to less than 10.

    Reasons....John Farnham

Some people are dreamers, they live for the future
As if it would work out, just as they dreamed it
    Would work out - somehow
Others get caught in, yesterday’s papers
Too busy reading, to get on with living
But I - live for now
Sometimes it’s easy to make up excuses
On the flimsiest pretext and then call them reasons
    But where are they now?

I wouldn't hold anyone responsible for blood (or anything else) unless they
caused or supported it themself. The mistake of group blame goes beyond that to
    put blood on everyone's hands.

Various kinds of religious, atheist, and other 'centric intolerance are behind
    the biggest atrocities:

Religious Wars--see part 9--about 7% of the wars in history were religious
    wars.

I'm not Catholic, but I'd take it person by person. There's dissent among
Catholics on contemporary issues (and evolving of ideas among other types of
believers and non-believers). Some Catholic issues:

"most don't bother to check where or how their particular religion began and
how it developed. If they did, there would be very few religious follows of
    men."

Dissent may lead to disbelief, but it's mistaken to think only a few prefer
progessive/reform belief choices within a religion. If they evolve their faith for
the better, I wouldn't ask them to apologize for what they don't condone.

    Bob Marley and religion:

Bob Marley was a member of the Rastafari movement, whose culture was a key
element in the development of reggae. Bob Marley became an ardent proponent of
Rastafari, taking their music out of the socially deprived areas of Jamaica and
onto the international music scene. He once gave the following response, which
was typical, to a question put to him during a recorded interview:

Interviewer: "Can you tell the people what it means being a Rastafarian?"

Bob: "I would say to the people, Be still, and know that His Imperial Majesty,
Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia is the Almighty. Now, the Bible seh so,
Babylon newspaper seh so, and I and I the children seh so. Yunno? So I don't see
how much more reveal our people want. Wha' dem want? a white God, well God come
    black. True true."

Observant of the Rastafari practice Ital, a diet that shuns meat, Marley was
a vegetarian. According to his biographers, he affiliated with the Twelve Tribes
Mansion. He was in the denomination known as "Tribe of Joseph", because he was
born in February (each of the twelve sects being composed of members born in a
different month). He signified this in his album liner notes, quoting the por-
tion from Genesis that includes Jacob's blessing to his son Joseph. Marley was
baptised by the Archbishop of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Kingston, Jamai-
    ca, on 4 November 1980.

Rastafarians are vegetarians? Even an atheist has to admit that's one thing the NT got right--
got rid of food rules. (Aside: can I get a hamburger in here?)

Thats an interesting point glenster....if they evolve their faith for the better...was it based on anything true. Or was it just an idea that keeps changing and being improved upon?

And why....for the love of God...would anyone want to be connected in any way to a religion that has its grounding in killing people. No one wants the average catholic to apologise for what many crazy homicidal popes authorised.

Would you want to join a fundamentalist muslim group that sends suicide bombers to kill people? Even if they started to change their behaviour would you EVER what to be associated with that? Well...the Catholic church is no better. It authorised the murder of innocent people on a mass scale. Now a days we would call it genocide and a crime against humanity. What sort of religion is that really?

BTW...I don't believe in what Bob Marley believed...I just like his music... and a hamburger sounds great...I'm about ready for lunch.
