It gets worse daily, it seems.

Just saw an hour-long program on this poor guy, on The Learning Channel....

"Helping Jose was complicated by the fact that his mother was a Jehovah's Witness -- a religious denomination that bans blood transfusions -- and she wanted her son to follow her faith."

That was such a sad situation.

I think we had a thread that updated his story a few months ago. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit to add:Update can be found toward the bottom of this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/medical/186978/1/Man-With-No-Face-a-Jehovahs-Witness

So then, was this surgery done without blood after all? I believe that his sister who has been helping him did not share the belief of the JW blood issue.

How sad that this poor man had to go through this.

"Jose would eventually be forced to decide between death from complications of frequent bleeding from the growing tumor, or renouncing his faith and receiving definitive surgery," he said.

Ya. But just think how happified Jehovah would be to watch this guy's face not only be taken over by massive tumors which would eventually kill him (after enduring a horrific and painful existence), rather than accept blood from another live human being.

Jehovah, surely isn't this sadistic is he , or is he ?

Sadly if you read the OT of the bible he is.

Reading this reminds me of Matthew 12:9-14 when Jesus healed the man's hand on the Sabbath and supports his reasoning for doing so by stating that anyone of rational mind would in fact lift their fallen sheep out of a pit on the Sabbath. A life or death situation involving the potential use of blood in my opinion would fall under the same umbrella of it being a rational decision to accept a blood transfusion considering the peculiar circumstances. It's common sense and humane when you think about it. Its preposterous for the WT equate a necessary life sustaining procedure involving blood with eating blood like a rabid animal in biblical times.

Who got the ball rolling to give Mestre a new lease on life?

An anonymous stranger! A "wordly" tourist "soon to be destroyed" at Armageddon, who saw Jose on the street and was moved to help.

    Who paid for it?

The Portuguese National Health Service, an arm of Satan's wicked, worldwide government. Also STB destroyed.

    Who performed the surgery?

Dr. McKay, a university-educated specialist with a 25-year history of performing corrective surgeries, not knocking on doors. Not a door-knocking JW = STB destroyed.

    Where?

At a rotten pagan Roman Catholic hospital founded by nuns, whores of Babylon the Great. STB really, really destroyed!

Bonus question: Who sat by for 40 years while this man suffered physically, emotionally and spiritually?

The Jehovah's Witnesses! Ah, but they Will Live Forever on Paradise Earthâ„¢.

    "Peter" the tourist

    Portuguese National Health Service

    Dr. McKay

    St. Joseph Hospital

    Jehovah's Witnesses

Just like so many other doctrines established by the WTS., the blood issue is another that was wrong not just scripturally but morally as well,

costing the lives of thousands. If you don't think men putting the power of god in their own hands is dangerous, one can only look

at what has happened to this stupidly created doctrine by the said solemn organization of god's choosing.

1945 is when this doctrine was created around the same time the WTS said Jehovah lives on a certain planet in the solar system.

It is even worse to think that many a person, worldly or not, will not sympathize with the man enough to understand that the blood doctrine is just dead wrong. I can hear them: "He had it coming; he believes that nonsense", and "You see! Jehovah provided, and he didn't have to accept a blood transfusion! What a fine example he is!"
