SIMON: So the WT contacted you too? Did they threaten with lawsuit or something?

Has anybody checked which items of Witchtower litterature are housed in the Library of Congress?

I have a hunch (not having done so either) that the WTBTS elduhs books have no ISBN because they DONT want these to be available via inter-library loan.

It is hilarious that the more they fight to hide things, the more they lose control.

The problem the WT has is that it is a top-down heirarchy, run by old men who are stuck in a 1955 time warp and out of touch with the 21st Century. (proof - the "I love Lucy" life in the Fambly book)

I bet that the youngsters in bethell who are commanded to do the footwork on this are adamant that the old ones are handling it wrong. Any person under the age of 30 will be infinitely more internet savvy than the dust farting reptiles running things.

If they speak out they will be told that they are not following theocratic order, and should OBEY OBEY OBEY, even if they disagree with how the situation is handled.

The old ways no longer fit with the expectations of modern people. Most people want openness and accountability. Where this is denied they now smell do-do.

The old fools in the Gibbering Buddy have already lost control. They just dont know yet - and ignore those who are telling them so.

I'm not blaming anyone, but this website could be gone someday due to an issue like this.

I like it here, even though I disagree with much of what is posted here, and if it were gone today, I would get along just fine, but it wouldn't be fair to those who would have a very hard time without this site.

So what's the legal "fair use" content that can be quoted...three paragraphs?

Perhaps posters can each post "their" three paragraphs and open for discussion.

    Would that be permissible?

    Judge Dread,

I posted earlier on the law of unintended consequences, but no one commented ...

Seems you answered indirectly just now.

I read it all on my Kindle last night!

Man what a piece of crap, most of it read like a business manual with 'form S-77' and 'committee this' & 'committee that' ...

My comment on how the GB has already lost control is to do with unintended consequences.

By emphasising obedience even if you disagree, they have turned their borganisation into a bunch of "yes men". You will only get on by agreeing and toeing the line. Nobody points out negative consequences.

Getting rid of the Book Study supposedly to help the sheeples (the BS arrangement - formerly a VITAL provision). Whatever the REAL reason, this has resulted in deteriorating social integration and increasing loneliness, with people looking elsewhere for friends.

The separation of Public and Koolaid editions. The actual effect is that their motives are suspect, hiding from potential converts the reality of being a witless until it is too late. A reduction of perceived trustworthyness.

The so-called rationalisation of the printing and move out of NY, the sending out of older Beth hellites, "because the end is soo near" , the refusal to obey the Spanish laws on pensions - the negative fallout is snowballing.

I think its fair to say that most people think this is NOT happening because the end is near - but because the GB think the opposite and want to save money.

Unintended consequences indeed. But back on topic:

Well, before Watchtower gets any ideas, they don't have permission to use the title I suggested for their next release of the elders' manual...

"Fun with Dick and Jane... porneia drawings included"

    Soldier 77 said...

"Oh and Ziddina I like your Inquisition reference, but I was thinking more along the lines of the Crusades. But I get the reference and I like it. ..."

[from the Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary...]

"crusade - 1. any of the military expeditions undertaken by Christian powers in the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries to win the Holy Land from the Muslims... 2. a remedial enterprise undertaken with zeal and enthusiasm"...

"inquisition - 1. the act of inquiring... 2. a judicial or official inquiry or examination usu. before a jury; also, the finding of the jury... 3. a former Roman Catholic tribunal for the discovery and punishment of heresy"...

To us it's a "Crusade"; to them - the Gov.Bod - the only solution THEY'LL see is an "Inquisition"....

If the elders, circuit overseers and district overseers thought that "Mother" Watchtower was strict before - bruddah, watch out now!!!

The Gov.Bod - already secretive, somewhat paranoid, seeing "apostates" and "Satanic influence" EVERYwhere - BEFORE the elders' book was leaked....

Well, there's nothing like an unexpected betrayal - like, say, a huge revelation of secret documents - to make a secretive society even more paranoid, delusional, frightened, tending to 'close ranks' and conduct "witch hunts" than to have their special, secret little "elders' book" made public BEFORE most of the elders even received them!!!

So, yeah, I foresee an "Inquisition" taking place - starting with Bethel - probably beginning even as I type this....
