Re: Father's Touch

Deep and Powerful!

"Father's Touch" is absolutely excellent. Louise Fagan's direction is absolutely excellent. The scoring and sound editing works in perfect tandem with the visual editing providing dimension to the story and riveting the viewer. Opening is very effective, the mystery behind the face in the rear view mirror, the promise of something dark, something hidden, and the music immediately arrests your attention. I am aware of the fear, desperation, helplessness, loss, scars, sorrow, hope. Great camera work, great editing, great timing, very effective acting. It's like the best of silent cinema. It doesn't tell the viewer what to think, it awakens inside the viewer, resonating with anyone who has ever felt helpless as a child, or afraid, or overwhelmed by an inexplicable adult world. This story is also one of society's "dirty little secrets" but it's not cliched, it's told in such an inventive way it appears fresh and immediate and very individual. This is a story that has lots more to tell. I can't think of anything negative to say about it, or anything that could be done better. I believe this is good enough to enter in the any professional film festival and hope "Father's Touch" makes it to the next Top 10 winners. -- November 10, 2003 - 8:08 PM
