"the freedoms given to religion are NOT absolute and damage to an individual supercedes the rights of a religion"
What a statement!she was by no means capable of free will to decide not to attend due to the relationship and power held over her by the church.
What a victory! My gradtitude to the Judge.
(((( Vicki ))))
I know as an abuse survivor myself that this "victory" must seem 'hollow' to you. Yet, what I see is a historic decision which was rendered because you paved the way for all survivors of such abuse to be reconized as a seperate entity from the rigors of religious indoctranation.
Because of your bravery and tenaciousness abuse victims everywhere can know that they have not suffered in vain. They can have hope that because of what you did all potential victims will not ever have to worry about hiding their head in shame, realizing that justice is out there and will be met out.
The society will not be as quick to hide or allow by written doctrine children to be abused, or medical treatment withheld, psychological or even perhaps in the case of blood transfusions.
This decision can and I am sure be used in future cases other then abuse.
Thank you Vicki, thank you for all your bravery, know that you are loved, respected and held in high esteem.
Love
Cassi
