I'm firmly convinced that the Watchtower Society is strongly influenced by the writings of Hugh Ross (Reasons to Believe) in his many books reconciling (he hopes!) science and fundamentalism by persuading ultra-conservatives to stop dissing scientific evidence which only makes them appear to be Luddites.
By following the ?logic? of Hugh Ross, the Watcthtower Society can "explain" the contradictions between Science and the Bible and still be at odds (its favorite position) with Christendom's churches. A sweet spot to be in, if you ask me.
