Some reports have stated Greenless was sent to a congregation far away from Bethel, San Diego being one place mentioned.

Checking the Social Security records, we find:

Leo K. Greenless,

Born 06 Jun 1911, Died 17 Feb 1988, Last Residence Zip Code 11201, (Brooklyn, Kings, NY) Social Security No. 081-44-5620

Did he move back to Brooklyn? Or did he never inform Social Security of his new address?

He was removed from the Governing Body in 1985, at age 74, well past retirement age, did he collect Social Security? If not, that would explain why SS records would not have his last address.

And, if he didn't collect Social Security, what was his source of income? The Governing Body Pension Plan?

Earlier I asked about WHEN Mark's recollection was stirred by seeing a photo of Greenlees. I failed to grasp on my first listening that this recall took place just this year. What was Mark's standing in the congregation prior to his recollection, and how swiftly did his relationships with his wife and the congregation deteriorate? How much time did he spend as an alcoholic? Did he work his way out of alcoholism with the help of a therapist and begin his college education this year also? How did he find FREEMINDS  and SILENTLAMBS?

Greenlees was not the only pervert on the Governing Body.  Two or three years ago a woman stated to the media that she was molested by Ted Jaracz who is still on the Governing Body.  She was a child in in a congregation in California and was molested when Jaracz was there as a circuit or district overseer.  She said it was Satanic and ritualistic.  They tried to laugh her off.  And Ray Franz's own uncle Fred Franz was President of the Governing Body.  Things have really been hushed up about him but I have read that Fred often walked about in his pijamas in front of Bethelites.  This is no poor reflection on Ray, though, he was and is a decent man on whom the Governing Body put out word through COs to call demon, Satan and other adjectives.  I wonder what more may come to light about these guys.  Ewert Chitty was reassigned when his being a homosexual became too well known.  Like Greenlees, Chitty was on the body in the 80s.  No wonder so many elders try to hide and hush the dark side of the "Truth" including electronically.  It doesn't work, you Little Boys hiding in the Watchtower.

Most of us are more interested in Gov Body child molestors like Greenlees than those who were molested by them.  The finger is on Jaracz and his toadies not those they have hurt.

Yes, and time will bring forth many more abuse survivors and give them the courage to speak out, just like Mark Palo.

I just read some more of the questions. At the time I told the elders and all I was ready to leave. The elders where trying to get dirt to DF me so I DAed myself. This was over 14 yrs ago. The reason I had finally said something was that it all came to a boiling point between me, my ex and the cong. I DID NOT name Greenlees at the time since I had no idea of his name. As I mentioned before it wasn't until later that I found his identity. As for college I have been going for 4 years, am Phi Theta Kappa and intend to go for my Masters degree in psycho/sociology. I think my point should be that I am a survivor and that others who have gone through what I have can do it too. If people want horror stories about my marriage and the cong I attended I'll gladly tell them so they can see that it was a combination of the molestations and life as a JW.  Marco

First of all.........thank you, Mark Palo, for speaking out.  And for Kent & Randy's bringing this information to the web.

And thanks to Nathan Natas (that's satan spelled backwards, btw - a long-standing joke) for asking some difficult - but necessary imho - questions.  There was no challenge put forth.....but an honest request for information, and explanations for asking personal questions.

It just makes sense to know a a little pertinent information on both sides.  We know how jw's will respond.....we were jw's.  But the people of the world respond the same.....no one wants to believe that someone they know (admire/like/love/work with) is a child molester.  It's hard for our brain to accept because the person seems so damned normal!   So, therefore, the victim/survivor is under suspect - even if it's an enfant.  I'm a victim/survivor, and it is part of the process. 

To be honest - I had the same questions.  Thanks to Mark (hope it's ok with him for me to call him that) for answering.  Anyone going after a masters in psych/soc should understand.  Congratulations to Mark for succeeding so brilliantly.  It's one thing to survive.....it's another to succeed.

As for Greenless?  Perhaps now more of his victims will think of speaking out.
