orangefatcatcan a disfellowshipped person go in the KH to get literature??

This is the question that a asked my exhusband? He of course was all eager to call the overseer, who was my favourite on of the cong. I was in and to ask him if it was okay for me to get any literature that I wanted. I said no, best leave well enough alone. Any way I was able to get from him several of the latest mags. and several new book releases they've had over the last couple of years.  He has no idea that I use them in here.   And I also told him I would still appreciate it if he would hold unto my WT and A Volumes for the last 50yrs.  My first volume is 1950

Would you go into the KH yourself and ask for any literature?

Just wondering, love

Anyone can get literature. Even a DFed person.

Just make sure you don't put a condom in the contribution box... they don't seem to like that very much.

You can go ask an elder (preferably one on your JC) for the current magazines and perhaps the book being considered at the book study.  "He may obtain copies of the Society's publications for personal use." (Organized for Kingdom-Preading and Disciple-Making" book page 174)

As to anything like the bound volumes, WT-CD, videos, special-order items, I doubt that a DF'd person would be allowed to order those.

I love how they need to have rules for everything.... Blondie, how you keep all that information at your fingertips is admirable to say the least!

Umm what if you live no where near the cong where you used to live?

Wondering what I might be able to get my hands on?

got my forty homey?Re: can a disfellowshipped person go in the KH to get literature??

This is a very ironic topic.

Before moving out of the city I would sometimes go to 360 Furman St. to pick up CD's and special literature my Father had difficulty getting in Puerto Rico. Then we I would go visit him I would bring him whatever he requested for me to get him. However, being DF'd I would not go into 360 Furman to purchase the literture, I would have my wife go in and get it. Now my wife who has never been a JW can go in and get the literture yet I, someone who served in Bethel and worked at 360 Furman St., perhaps even working in a bathroom right in that lobby (I was in construction plumbing dept.) can't go in and get some stupid CD's!

I think one time I did enter and get something for my Father, and I purchased a CD for myself. It was wierd because the stuff was FREE yet there were these big boxes with signs right there asking for "suggested donations" like the museum of Natural History.

  • Worship the Only True God           2002
  • Draw Close to Jehovah                 2002

PS  ex's are the best way of getting lit. especially if you had children as you are allowed to assosciate with them when you have a child you know talking about their well being and what ever else you can conjure up.

Special KRe: can a disfellowshipped person go in the KH to get literature??

No I would not go into the kingdom hall for literature...

because I don't want any of their literature in my house...

I just don't want any of that stuff around my kids...It's kind of like keeping "rat poison" in the house. I have one kid who is not of age yet to know the difference between fact and fiction...

If I want to know anything from the literature.. I just pm...my hero in "what's in the literature Dept..info

namely. BLONDIE..

If I want to know how other ones have misinterpreted the bible.. I just pm..Shotgun..

and if I want to know about "little-tiny-cups-of-coffee".. I pm ODRADE.. (inside joke)

Does this make me sound smart.. or .. Lazy...

anyways.. thanks guys..

sincerely

OFC, those seem like reasonable requests and are probably in stock.

Shamus, I have a steel trap memory, or I did.  I lived through all this and have acted as an advocate for many a shyer JW when it comes to the elders.  My husband was an elder and I come from a 4 generation JW family.  I have accumulated at lot of info that is trash to some and treasure to others.

Hummm? So what's the deal with the "Kingdom Ministry" used in the service meeting? I remember when an elder had some extra copies and the speaker on the platform asked if anyone needed one. Well, a disfellowshipped woman was sitting in the audience and she raised her hand. The elder gave her one. And then, about 10 minutes later in the middle of the meeting, he approached her and asked for it back. Telling her that because she was df'd she couldn't have it. And she gave it back to him.

Since then, I always assumed that if you were df'd you couldn't get the literature? ... not that I've been trying.

The KM is an internal publication for baptized, dedicated publishers--so an elder told me--not intended for people just studying or attending a few meetings, and not for the DF'd/DA'd.  So are so picky that if you don't turn in time for one month, no KM.  It is supposed to be a "privilege" to receive one.

Doubtfully YoursRe: can a disfellowshipped person go in the KH to get literature??

If the person is disfellowshipped and wants literature he/she must approach an elder and the elder in turn will get it for him/her.

There's a BIG 'but', though, to getting literature when the person is disfellowshipped:  The disfellowshipped person must be attending meetings and giving positive steps towards returning to the Organization.

Of course, if the person has relatives/friends on the inside that could get the lit for him/her, then the previously-mentioned doesn't apply.

CruithneLaLunaWhere there is a will, there is a way.

There are innumerable ways to circumvent the "stupid rules." I wanted a copy of a certain KM, and my friend who is DF'd, but whose active JW mother depends on her for transportation and other assistance, surreptitiously borrowed her mom's issue and photocopied it for me. This was as easy as asking, basically. Many things are as easy as asking - and finding the rigtht people to ask.

Blondie,

I am not sure if you understood what I was saying, but I did get all the literature I wanted and if I need something else from the hall like a KM he my  ex will give it to me.

Dear what sort of group do you have?  I know you spend a tremendous amount of time and research for many who don't have literature or for those who threw their literature out.  If we need to keep ahead of the JW's we have to know what it is the are thinking and thelling publishers .  So that is why I found it ever so advantageous to keep all my literature.

I know many that have be intensely injured by the Organization have destroyed their literature.

What ever the case ,my goal is to help people know that the WTS in no way the the truth taught by Christ.

Love ya
