ORANGE CITY -- Volusia County sheriff's deputies are searching for a motive today in the deaths of a mother and her two sons, who bodies were found in their Biscayne Drive home near Orange City Monday night.
A Sheriff's Office spokesman said today that deputies had been called to the house three times since 1999. The first was a 911 call in November 1999; the second was an assault and battery call in March 2001; and last was a suspicious person call in April 2001. Victor Hernandez, a church elder at the DeLand Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses, said the last time Negron was heard from was 8:30 p.m. Saturday. No one answered calls to the home on Biscayne Drive all day Sunday, Hernandez said. "They've been here for a long time. I know the whole family," said Hernandez, adding Negron has been in the area about 10 years. A man who said he is a cousin of the victims spoke outside the home. "This is the kind of stuff you don't think about happening in Orange City, just in bigger cities," said Hector Rivera, 19. "Everybody is freaked out about it." Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Volusia and Flagler Counties, (888) 277-TIPS (8477). |
