A moderator is not always someone who makes judgements or censors ...moderator = chairman = conciliator = moderatorSimon has the role of moderator on this board and has called for others .... Tishie moderates her board .....H2O has moderators .... and the above is the role they will be playing from now on as I understand it ..... Just as meetings need to be chaired to keep things moving smoothly so do meeting places like this .....I have been moderating e-mails lists and previously Bulliten Boards for about 10 years now and only rarely have I had to step in and then only because the person has deliberatly violated the guidelines. On the ex-cult-support list I have only had to ban two people and they were cult members who snuck on with lies and then went all out to attack participants .... Since it is a private and protected list I had to do that. This is how I believe the new H2O will be ..... moderators will be basically educating newbies to the system to post in the right areas e.g. Fundies in the forum made just for them - and their posts when put in the other areas will be moved to the right area rather than be deleted ..... so that means the non-trinitarians and trinitarians can have a good debate without annoying anyone else ... same goes for the evolution-creation debates .....If we can get past the censorship model of moderatorship and see them as being chairpersons and conciliators (when necessary cause there is always a little rough stuff from time to time) then we can make sure that all three boards that are operating now will be havens for those seeking informaiton and friendship and a place to talk openly and safely about their WTS experience.JanG
