    G'day all,

    How's your week been?

Mrs Ozzie and I very much enjoyed catching up with Bliss and Mr Bliss and family. Mr Bliss's shiraz is something else, I can tell ya! Thanks for the memories, Bliss.

Now we're well into the weekend, how's it for you all? Very wet here in New South Wales. Absolute magic, it is! Brilliant! After not seeing rain for a year, we've certainly been catching up.....but still a way to go yet!!

Anyway, it's that time again...yep, time to reminisce and give us the benefit of your wisdom, so to speak.

This weekend's poll question is.........(drum roll)...................

What was so 'special' about the Special Talk?

    1. We only got to hear it once (thank goodness!).

    2. The best speaker gave it.

    3. We invited all the "no longer interesteds".

    4. It was the consolation prize for the elder who missed out on taking the Memorial!

    5. Well, it WAS special, wasn't it?.....well, wasn't it?

    6. You didn't have to hear it again.

    7. The usual 'doom and gloom' introduction lasted longer in a Special Talk.

    8. It was designed for those who were late for the Memorial.

    9. It was sometimes designed for the public?????

    10. Other (please detail)

Once again we're looking forward to your responses and don't forget.....ENJOY.

    Cheers, Ozzie

I agree................boring, boring, boring. We usually tried to be away that day..............even during all our "faithful" years, we knew it was going to be so dull...........like the public talk at conventions.

It was special because they said it was special and so everyone thinks it's special. If nobody knew it was a special talk.....it wouldn't be special." Well now......isn't that special" (line stolen from the church lady on SNL )

Number 6 , and it was never special to me, same old thing said,,,,,,, drilled into your head week after week.

Reminds me of the way, they would let the congregation know that something "special", "new and exciting info that will make great waves", etc. and it turned out to be a freakin' brochure or tract,,,,,,,also about the same boring stuff we already have in 100 other tracts and brochures.

lol at #4, though that reason is as good as any I can think of.

I gave the talk in 1996 as a follow-up to the generation thing. It wasn't easy to dio because I felt that nagging doubt about what I was saying, or more to the point, what I was saying in view of what had been taught before.

I always felt vaguely insulted by the fact that someone was reading a prepared statement from Brooklyn.

It was always incredibly boring too.

    10. I can't remember the title of any special talk. They all blur together. I always was out of town that weekend knowing I definitely wasn't missing a thing.
