My Witness mother received her regular visit from an Elder (she lives with me)...She told me he said they have something new, where the Circuit overseer could talk to disfellowshipped ones [I'm disassociated 7 years, out 17] if the disf. one so wishes, and be invited to attend the meetings.

Mom said, "Donald just wants to be left alone."

Elder: "Jehovah knows peoples' hearts. Well, in case Donald has a change of heart..."

At first this bugged me because I took it to mean... if Donald's heart changes: translation: from bad to good. Imperfect as my heart is, I think it's just fine thank you very much...but I don't think he meant that..I mean, of course, he thinks it...but I don't think he'd say it to my mother.

The truth: I'd rather be dropped in a vat of acid than talk to some strange man called a "circuit servant". You see, I'm in touch with my feelings....I don't talk to strangers that don't treat me like an equal...

Nevertheless, every time these things happens, it just reminds of my "Toast" existance as an ex-Witness. I'm just human..even though I've never been happier in my life, having grown up a Witness....it's such a part of you..such reminders don't make my day..you know what I mean.

Hey, I know all of you know what I mean!!!

Well, this is indeed good news for DF'd ones!

Why, even regular rank and file jws who are NOT DF'd very rarely have the honor and privilege of the CO speaking to them (unless of course they were providing the CO food and/or shelter, or had the rotten luck to pull the short straw and have to go door-to-door with either Hisself or Hiswife.)

If I'd known that all I had to do to get one of those rascals to speak to me was to be DF'd, I'd have done it a long time ago, and saved myself lots of grief!

More new light. I LIVE for new light.

And good for your Mom... sticking up for you. I like her.

I'm glad you're happy. I too was a born and raised JW, and I think that all I suffered just makes me appreciate my life now even more.

    Hugs, V

This is nothing new tho. They constantly send members around to "check" on heart conditions. Hell my old congregation used to wait for travelling CO to come and make the rounds on all the local df'd ones.

It's all a show. It's not to check heart conditions, it's to check and see if the person is weakened because their whole support system has been yanked away from them, then they bring in the "celebrity" witness with high status to make it seem like "see how much our high ranking brothers worry about you?"

It's all a crock and a sham to get people to cave and come back. Instead of thinking "hmm well if they wanted to come back they could do it of their own free will" they are really hoping for a break-down and sobbing so that perhaps those weak ones will see this as a warm gesture.

You will meet with a committee behind closed doors and have to justify yourself.

If you are allowed back, you will be marked i.e. not allowed to speak publicly, etc or what they call "restrictions"

    And so on....

    Why bother, eh?

    Cheers, Ozzie

When I meet with them the elders sit and cry. (more like run away)

Ozziepost, That's why I like the word dissassociated much better the disf. I had some say in the matter.

But in my case, even that's not true....they nailed me because I wrote a public column on my sexuality 10 years after I left. They called and said,

"We want you to meet with us."

    I said, "No, I haven't been a Witness for 10 years."

He said, "You're still a baptised member of our congregation."

    "I won't."

"Then what you're saying is that you want to dissassociate yourself."

    "I never said that."

Then he goes back to square one, "We want you to meet with us."

Round and round in circles we went...Finally I said. "Do whatever"...and hung up. Mom said they announced I disassociated myself the following week.

My god, go back? For what? Pennence. Twelve lashes with a wet noodle. To feel the love tonight. Nope, I've rented Harry Potter. I'm going to watch it with Mom.
