No special campaign to invite the public to the DC this year...

    ...per the May 2008 KM.

It does give a hint about the "future campaign" that I noted earlier in this thread though:

I guess they finally figured out that people are not likely to drive 50-300 miles to a fringe group's religious convention after receiving a smarmy invitation from a stranger at their door.

    This goes against my predictions.

I was sure that they would spend a whole 3 weeks or more on this to make
the dubs feel "special" and keep them active by just having them leave
flyers on the porches and running away.

I wonder if your information is wrong. Unless they have so much crap in
stock that they don't want to waste ink even printing invitations. Maybe they
are going to "excite" the members by giving a hint that there's no need to
invite the outsiders because it's too late for them.

Take a look at the latest KM.

I don't get a KM anymore. My wife keeps hers in some bag that I don't rummage through
because it's usually in her car.

She only gets one "members only" mag. and I don't see those popping out of her bag until
    time to study.

It's great to be free of the cult. My car still had some literature in it because we swapped
cars every now and again, but now I purge my car of the WT stuff everytime we do that.

If you can't scan the May KM, just tell us what the reason is.

I can imagine that the gas price increase might have had something to do with it. I can imagine too that there was less than enthusiastic response to last year's campaign. Not that lack of response has stopped the WTS in the past. I always said if jws had to live off the equivalent monetary results of their "preaching" they would be homeless and starving.

Actually haven't seen it yet, got the word from someone else. I should get my KM tonight, will post more detail tomorrow.

I suspect they either don't give a reason, or at least obfuscate it (like the announcement that "Awake" went to one issue a month instead of 2 "so it could concentrate more on the Bible". Like they couldn't do that in 2 issues per month).

While all wt field service is a waste of time the invites to the DC are the supurlative of time wasting. This is especially so for the congregations a hundred miles away from the convention site.

They either figured it out on their own or the r&f complained so much that they had to do something.

I'm not surprised, after they did not finish the Great Big Waste of Paper Campaign for the REJECT Jesus Party this past March. And maybe they are buckling down in getting people to start studying the littera-trash with the goal to make disciples, not just inviting them to the Grand Boasting Session where we would likely never see them again.
