ozziepostWould a JW go beyond the scriptures?
According to JW Media, baptism "symbolizes one's dedication to God".

On this basis, a JW's allegiance and obedience is to God. Thus, the article goes on to state:
Jehovah's Witnesses avoid making rules and regulations beyond those provided in the Scriptures
, and they do not follow traditions that contradict Bible teachings. Emphasis is placed on personal application of Bible principles and the value of a sound, Bible-based conscienceMany would dispute that. If you are one who has been a member of a JW congregation, how many "rules and regulations" that go "beyond those provided in the Scriptures" can you think of?

Let me start:

1. Requiring a member to go before a judicial committee.

2. "Restrictions" placed on members adjudged to be repentant sinners, or on re-instated members.

3. Prohibition on smoking tobacco.

4. Attempting to 'split hairs' over what is/is not allowed with blood.

5. Loyalty to an organisation and acceptance of a ruling body termed a "faithful and discreet slave."

6. (Space for your entry)

etc etc

Cheers,
Ozzie
