studierCould someone explain PLEASE

Why does the default page in Bible subject not show the latest page number which would be 394 but right now it only goes to 393. I actually had to type in 394 in the box to get it to show it to me ?!?! WHY? I almost missed Leolaia's WT Comments edition...

Perhaps at the time you tried looking at page 394, you were not logged in.  Sometimes that happens to me.  I look at the upper left corner, and it says Welcome guest.  When I log in, the problem goes away.  Not all forum topics are available to guests.

Just a suggestion for troubleshooting this problem...

Thank you for the thought but I was logged in. I thought maybe some technically intelligent person might be able to explain the discrepancy to me...No big deal just curiosity.

I have noticed this since the forum was switched to the new server.  I sign in.  And, even so, the pages are extremely slow to update.  Even typing the page number by hand only returns the latest "allowed" page--even if there is material on the page I am trying to access.  This has been a major problem, since it is impossible to see the very latest "Friends" (the fastest moving section) page.  Sometimes it will go two or three pages out of date, and refreshing it does absolutely nothing.

Maybe it's to do with caching. (Newly sent PMs don't always immediately show for me.) So if the query is only reading cached threads it might take a little time for the page numbers to be updated.

As far as I remember, Eyes Open's suggestion is correct.

The best way to find a current topic is to keep JWD set to show all active topics as this updates immediately - or if you know which poster has started the regular topic (such as the WT study comments), search through the poster's topic history.

WTwiz is right whe he said refreshing it does absolutely nothing.

There is a systemic problem on Simon's new server.  I created a post the other day that did not show up on the table of contents (Scandals) for some 20 hours. Fortunately, I always bookmark my posts immediately, otherwise wouldn't have been able to go back there.  For some strange, others (tho not many) found it and were able to add to it.

Go figger.
