MaryblondgrlNew to board

Well hello all....yes...i'm a newbie...

And Yep...I am an inactive witness.  haven't been to a meeting in a while.  My entire family are witnesses, actually had a relative that proclaimed to be of the 144000...thats how DEEP....this is third generation witnesses here in this family.  I have been silent of my thoughts with them. blame my inactivity on being too busy with work etc. and all is ok.  But honestly, i wonder about all that has been told to us over the years, what is true, what isn't true.  I have been lurking here for about a week.  Just found the site.  And have to admit, I guess I'm an apostate cause I agree with everything being said.  Hard admission.  No offense to all of you out there.  But I'm sure you know why its a hard thing to admit.

I just can't get over the fear factor.  Watch the news and it scares the crap out of me.  Wonder daily...no...make that hourly....if its really winding down and about to fall into place.  Anyone else share that fear?  Or do you get over it eventually?  I mean...what about the prophesy that the feet of the statue (the stone and clay) would be the last empire and then Jehovah's kindgom would take over?  The USA is in the crapper...

Don't misunderstand.  Just reaching out and need some comments from you all.  Feeling a bit adrift.  Its lonely out here!!!

Hi Mary, welcome.

Personally I do not wonder if "it's all winding down" to Armageddon, when I realized the WTS was full of crap the first belief to go was the one about 6 billion people being slaughtered any day now because they didn't agree with me.

The End has been "imminent" since Russell first picked up a Bible. Life has gone on for several billion years thus far and I have a feeling it won't stop for at least another few decades or so. ;-)

Yes USA is in the crapper but keep in mind that humans got along for a friggin' long time before the USA was ever a twinkle in Washington's eye. There is no guarantee it'll be around for our kids but that's what happens, empires rise and fall, religions are created and die out, life goes on.

Welcome to JWD Maryblondgrl!

I was a third generation witness too, last surviving member in my family when I left. My grandmother converted after hearing Ruthford's famous "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" talk. Does that tell you anything? He was spirit annointed and yet pretty much everyone who heard that talk has since died.

just can't get over the fear factor.  Watch the news and it scares the crap out of me.  Wonder daily...no...make that hourly....if its really winding down and about to fall into place.  Anyone else share that fear?  Or do you get over it eventually?
I used to worry, I got over it and I believe you can too. That's how mind control groups like the JW's work. Fear factor. Once you can recognise it, the fear quickly begins to disappear.

Welcome Maryblondgirl!

You asked:  I just can't get over the fear factor.  Watch the news and it scares the crap out of me.  Wonder daily...no...make that hourly....if its really winding down and about to fall into place.  Anyone else share that fear?  Or do you get over it eventually?

I can speak only for myself, but after living through the 1975 hysteria, ...and yes I watch and wonder about the end but not like I use to and don't worry too much about it anymore.  I have heard from the time I was young it's almost here.  My relatives are still all in and I am 3rd generation too along with someone of the anointed in the family.

The fear of the end is ingrained so deeply its hard to let go......but eventually you do let go.

Welcome to the forum. These are good points that you bring out maybe we are in the crapper maybe the system as we know it is changing (peek oil and all). But being a Jehovah's Witness is not some magic shield that's going to keep you safe from these things. Jesus Christ is the only one that can keep you safe no matter what religion you attest to be he (Jesus) is going to be looking at your heart and not your affiliation. Remember, many will call on him saying LORD LORD and he will not know them.

If and when the end of this system as we know it comes, will we be there, who knows but Jesus so why worry, be happy live in the moment enjoy the things we were given and live. Love people and show it and maybe we will be spared.

The Witnesses LOVE to make news events the core for fear. Sorry, but the world has always been topsy turvy. JWs just like to exploit. They are fear mongers.

Wow!  My grandfather was at that famous talk too!  And he has been dead since the late 70's.  Interesting thought...never thought about the fact that Russel was "spirit annointed' and he blabbered that statement about the millions never dying...sort of a MAJOR mistake..huh?

WELCOME MARYBLONDGIRL!!!!

I am sure you will set your fears to rest once you hang around this group for a while

I have faded away and haven't been to a meeting in 25 years.  I was raised a JW from the time I was 3 years old and that was in the 1950's.  The end was near then and continued to be imminent throughout the years until now and much has happened but still no end of world.

I didn't like being a JW and said to myself I would rather die than live a life as a JW so I left.   but I still thought it might be the truth and was fearful everytime something big happened politically or things like 9/11.  Thinking about all the JW teachings kind of faded but was still at the back of my mind until I found this site and the information provided by many well informed disillusioned exjws.

All the information and support you will ever need you will find here.  I can finally say I am free from fear of the JW's teachings.

Yes the world is in a mess, and maybe something is going to happen but it won't be anything to do with JW's teachings.  I have stopped worrying about it because there is nothing we can do and we don't have to be a member of the Watchtower Society to gain salvation.

MARYBLOND GIRL- Welcome to the board friend ! My wife and I welcome you ! I too was raised in the witnesses. Got out almost 5 years ago at 44 years of age. But I understand the fear you have. We were all conditioned by the witnesses to serve God out of fear of displeasing Him- so armageddon was a very motivating , intimidating tactic they used to keep us in fear ! In fact I was out of the organization for about 4 years and I got scared out of my wits and went back because of the 9-11 attacks in September of 2001. But I left for good in December of 2003- after seeing injustice in the organization.

So don't fear my friend - in time you will lose your fear when you learn more about how we were all lied to and deceived. Educate yourself on the board here- and please remember- you are among friends. We care about what happens to you. Your new friends, Peace out, Mr. & Mrs. Flipper

GopherRe: New to board

Hi Mary, and welcome to the discussion board! I also was a 3rd-generation JW, made it as far as ministerial servant, took it quite seriously.

As far as the "statue toes" prophecy -- all I can say is that, looking back, the WTS has changed its mind about the interpretation of Daniel so many times. For example, in their 1958 book "Your Will Be Done on Earth", they said that the Communist powers (such as the USSR which was the biggest threat back then) would survive as the "king of the north" all the way to the end of the system, and that God's people (JW's) would be continually be persecuted by such powers up until the end! Now that Communism has fallen and the JW's do have their freedom in most of the former Soviet countries, you can see they were guessing.

They have no idea who the king of the north is now. So how can they have any idea about what the legs, feet, and toes of the statue really mean?

The JW's in this century have thought that the following were signs of the sudden end: The 9/11 attacks in 2001, Hurricane Katrina, and the Indian Ocean killer tsunami of 2004. Yet none of these terrible events brought the "end".

The "end" has supposedly been near ever since you and I were little kids, and for JW's the end will continue to be near for decades to come.

Nations rise and nations fall, the world will continue on, and there will always be world-end-prophesiers. It's all part of the scene. It doesn't mean the prophesies are anywhere near true.

Welcome, Mary.

I agree with ldrnomo. Some honest-hearted ones can no longer stomach the hypocrisy and lack of love and are driven away. Hopefully Jesus will think we are salvageable. If not, we will be sure to have better lives now, for all the sacrifices we have made.

The opinions here are so diverse, I'm sure this place will help us newbies to gain a much better understanding of the important things.

I guess I'm an apostate cause I agree with everything being said.

Oh no you didnt!  You bustin' out the A word against us?!

Just kidding.  We actually are a bunch of evil apostates.  Put on your devil horns, drink a cup of sheeps blood and read the forum.

Welcome.  The A word will lose its power once you understand the loaded language thing.

Welcome to JWD Maryblondgrl!    I was one of those knocking on doors warning folks 1975 they were going to die...UNLESS they come onto the Organization. I quit a very good job to go do it too. What happened ??? I found out Deut 18.20-22 was telling me they were false prophets.
They kicked me out because I said I didnt believe Jesus came invisably in 1914...
I would love to send THANK YOU cards to them now.

Remember TRUE LOVE throws fear outside. If they had true love they wouldnt have loved us all conditionally .As long as we accepted THEY were the WAY TRUTH LIFE!!!! That is a LIE!!!!

Jesus Christ is in MY opinion.

HonestyRe: New to board

Hi Mary !

I have an 'anointed' ex-Sister-in-law who shuns me better than any other JW I have encountered since I left the group in 2004 and became a born again christian.

I hear she gets an extra 'privilege point' applied to her reward each time she shuns me.

Awakened at GileadRe: New to board

Welcome MBG,

We're happy you're here. I have just been here for about a month too, and I have receieved tons of support. As a former elder and Gilead trained missionary, my exit has occured over doctrine. I could no longer stomach hearing about 1914...

Think about it. How many Witnesses can explain the 1914 prophecy? It actually doesn't stand up to the light of scrutiny.

I suggest that you do some research.. some books like Crisis of Conscience and The Gentle Time Reconsidered are helpful.

Or you could check out Websites like www.jwfacts.com (created by a JWD poster in Australia).

Get the facts, and the fear will dissipate...

BTW my step-father is of the "anointed", and he has already begun to shun me although I'm not officially Dfd or DA yet!.

Take care and Welcome...

A@G
