I do have to say that the "floating sensation" I experienced was not totally unpleasant. The only thing I can compare it to is seeing the ocean for the first time as a child. That sense of unbounded space and freedom was a scary, but incredibly liberating as well. Nowadays, when I get days of feeling jaded and discouraged (a consequence of aging, I think), I miss those first months of wonder and endless horizons.
