Thanks, Lady Lee. For about a year after I left the org, I had that floating sensation you describe. I would look at a tree, for example, and think that I didn't really know what it was, because for years I had believed it was just one of Jehovah's creations. Everything seemed new and strange; I had no anchor to serve as a fixed point by which other things could be understood.
The feeling passed in time, and I found new, non-religious, ways to make sense of the world. But it's good to know that the weird feelings I had then are common to people who have just escaped from cults.
