Hello .... and please forgive this mass mailing, but I decided it was the most efficient way to announce my new book. You may remember my first book, Captive Hearts, Captive Minds , which came out in 1994 . Gosh, that seems like a long time ago! Well, it was a long time ago -- and because the book is still so needed, I revised and updated it as well as added new material. The new edition is now available with a new p ublisher (Bay Tree Publishing in Berkeley) and I thought you would want to know about it . Some of the new material includes a new section on chil d ren born and raised in cults, more on what I call small "family" or " no-name " cults, more on one-on-onecultic relationships, more information specifically for therapists and helping professionals, such as a chaper on PTSD, and so on. The resources and recommended reading lists have also been updated, and there is lots of other new material. Th is edition has a new title , which was necessary in part to avoid confusion, especially on the Amazon website which tends to list first editions first. The publisher thought it better to give the book a new title, and also in some ways it is a new book as there is so much fresh material. The new title is : Take Back Your L i fe: Recovering from Cults and Abusive Relationships. You can order the book directly from the publisher (see the first link below) or from Amazon. Right now Amazon says the book is not yet available, but they should be updating their website any day now as the book is definitely in stock. I've got one sitting right here in front of me -- yippee! You can also ask your local bookstores and libraries to order the book -- that always helps!
