1,2,3,4 We Don't Want This Bloody War

I went to my first peace rally and march tonight. It was incredible. At one time there were probably 350 of us all joined in solidarity. About 3/4 of the many people who drove by, honked their support. The conservative press would like us to believe that 76% of Americans support this war with Iraq. Sorry, but I think that the press is lying.

The protestors were well received. We did get a couple of birds shot at us but when that happened, I blew kisses to the offenders. They seemed surprised to see that sort of response. It was so hilarious when one guy drove by and yelled "commie bastards" at us. I couldn't help but laugh and I blew him a kiss too. Many drove by and shouted "God bless America." We shouted God bless America back at them. And then, of course, saluted them with the peace sign.

There are more protests going on tomorrow. You can check this link to find out where:

If you decide to go to a protest, make sure you wear comfortable shoes; you will probably be marching too. Oh, and take water. Protesting is thirsty work. Some of the chants you may hear are:

"1,2,3,4...We don't want this bloody war, 5,6,7,8...We will not co-operate"

    "Drop Bush, not bombs"

"What do we want? Peace! When do we want it? Now!"

"Tell me what Democracy looks like.....This is what Democracy looks like"

Shout 'em with pride and remember, God Bless America.

    Love,

    Of course they do!

Do you think that they will receive that personal liberty after we "liberate" them?

Hey, what do you think about the French expressing their personal liberties? Some people don't seem to like that very much. And, I bet that the first time that our new allies, the liberated Iraqis, protest what we do as a nation, we will turn on them for using the very freedoms we gave them.

I have to admit, after watching the news coverage of this war and seeing how joyful the Iraqi people are when they see the U.S. soldiers arrive. They are happy that they may finally be free in the true sense of the word.

I never knew just how bad they had it over there in Iraq. I would rather be dead than to live in constant fear as they seem to be living.

I have no problem with anyone expressing their personjal liberties, until the interfere with mine. That the protesters in France decided to destroy a McDonalds just shows me what cowards they really are. take it out on an inaimate object.

To each their own. I fought for peoples rights to peacefully protest, not to block the streets and fight with the police and such.

We liberated Japan and Germany and one of them is not supporting the current endeavor. Have we turned on them? We liberated France too, along with other allies, of course, and the only thing being done about their stance is some people expressing their right of choice by not buying French products. isn't that also their choice and freedom?

As evil as many want to make America sound, we do not invade and destroy countries simple becuase they don't agree with us. That would be something Saddam would do.

I feel the same way. I just watched Barbara Walters interview 4 Iraqi women who live in the U.S. now. They told unbelievable stories about the torture inflicted on their families for telling a joke about Saddam, or writing anything (one was a schoolgirl who wrote one sentence in a notebook against him) and they are turned in and raped, in front of their parents, and videotaped for the entertainment of the officials. One woman went to the jail to visit and was shown a room with a grinder in it where they grind people's bodies while they are alive, and pools of poison they are dipped into.

All 4 women were then shown talking to George Bush and asking for help. They feel America is the only country with enough power to help them.

Something for me to think about anyway.

    Lew,

No we havent turned on them. Not with weapons of mass destruction, anyway. But there are many Americans who would deny the French their right to protest. IMO, they are acting like evil dictators too. They just don't have an army to do their bidding.
